Why I Love Enterprise

OH... that's a gorgeous photo. He has a great Vulcan face. I would have loved if he'd played Sarek in ST:XI. I was not enamoured with the casting of Sarek there, nothing against the acting but not a very Vulcan face. He certainly has some similarities to Mark Lenard looks wise.

He's wonderfully nuanced and interesting. And passionate. And charming. With secrets.

:adore:

I guess you like him then, no? :p

It's just that in the first three seasons he was usually so condescending and insulting. Not a big turn-on if you ask me. ;)

It's a good thing he turned around in the fourth season. And got a new wardrobe. :D

The Mirror ones were interesting. It was like Soval's ideals were more of a dominant feature of his personality because he had no important place in that society, no structure he could work with. It takes a lot more push for Soval to become a crusader in the prime universe than it did in the Mirror universe.

I was pretty upset when he died :(

It took me a long while to warm up to ENT, but now that I have, I agree with most of the points mentioned here.

Is it just my own tastes, or does ENT go out of its way to provide fanservice for the female audience, more so than the other series? That's probably my favorite thing about this series - seeing that someone in charge bothered to pander to female scifi fans. Having Troi and Seven in sexy outfits is fine, but ENT also gave us numerous gratuitous shirtless scenes, which I totally appreciate.

The entire male cast stayed in shape for the whole run, though maybe that's not entirely fair to mention since it was only 4 seasons long. ENT never made us watch that sad, slow decline of hotness into pudginess which afflicted Riker and all of the VOY male cast. The DS9 guys maintained their "middle of the road" bods (except Miles O'Brien, who never should have had a shirtless episode), and I suppose the TOS guys also did well, but I'd say ENT surpasses TOS in terms of the quantity of hot guys.

I might be alone in this, but the Xindi arc did nothing for me. It was OK, but not all that gripping.

I will admit that it was a very nice part of ENT. Though for me that is not the reason why I love it so much. I grew up on Trek, though admittedly I hated TOS when I saw it in syndication as a child. I fell in love with it when TNG came out and from then on there was NO looking back.
And you have to admit that ENT did give the men T'Pol and Hoshi mixed in with all the "sexy" aliens. So they got their fill but they did seem to give us ladies something more to look at and not just GREAT Trek.
And I will add to your statement that they all kept up their shapes, if you have seen most of them within the last year they are all within their ENT bodies.
They could easily start a season 5 if the powers that be decided to do it.

I agree. The idea of Vulcans being slaves was very interesting and to see him (actor and character) play it out that way was good. I think something a lot of people don't either see or under appreciate it.

(In those episodes I was upset that we never really knew what happened to Reed also:confused:)

^That's true. TOS also had the guys shirtless and chained up at some point, which was a wtf moment for me when I first saw it as a kid. :guffaw: The ripped shirts are certainly memorable.

Ripped shirts...yes those images are forever in my mind!!!!!!!!!!
But I happen to be partial to the decon chamber, how could you go wrong with Malcolm, Archer and Trip in there??? :p

I hadn't known that. Good for them.

Also, thank you Enterprise for this:

We never got to see much of him like that but when we did it was nice :)

Oooo top 5 celebrities.. actually this should not surprise me as I look at your user name and avatar. I gotta say my No. 1 taste in male hotness is David Hewlett, not Trek but SG:A. I'm always more into characters than actors though, which is convenient for my Soval infatuation as the actor definitely doesn't have the ears.

He was on Alien Nation and I have to admit I liked him there. No pointy ears but there was something about him. LOL

Don't have the time, however all the points you stated are the EXACT reason why Enterprise is my favorite Trek, ever. I will put up the four season against any of the first four season of Next Gen, DS-9 and Voyager. What really pisses me off is that we never got the final three season of Enterprise, great cast, really good writing and they missed out on taking part in the Romulan War. I will NEVER watch the final ep on Enterprise, having Riker, Troi and Data in the Enterprise final was unacceptable, as far as I am concerned, the final Enterprise was Terra Prime, not "These are the Voyages". Enterprise totally deserved three more seasons to complete the cycle...

In no particular order:

1. I like how we got four more years of Star Trek on TV following the end of VOYAGER

2. The Mirror Universe episodes, my personal favorites of that series. not because they brought back the look of TOS (although that was nice), but because the MU is my favorite Star Trek creation no matter what show it appeared on.

3. How Hoshi was (at first anyway) used as an actual communications officer, rather than just repeating Uhura's "hailing frequences open Captain" bit. I was sorry this didn't continue.

4. Trip's death. Even though it was written stupidly (much like the character), I was actually glad this happened. I REALLY hated the guy, he just rubbed me the wrong way (you know what I mean, get you mind out of the gutter!), and was glad when they killed him off.

And yeah, I know I'm in the minority on that one.....
