Why Eccleston if Only One Series?

On a slightly different note, next time around I'd like to see a slightly older, more serious Doctor. Might just be me, but there y'go.

. This is one thing that worries me about STeven "Fart-Joke-Dalek-Bump" Moffat and Matt Smith: the Doctor is turning into a cartoon character. A prancing, giggling, goofy, Bugs Bunny-like figure that is the exact opposite of everything Christopher Eccleston stood for.

I wouldn't say he's any more of a bugs bunny like figure than Tennant! Actually he probably does less giggling and goofiness!

This is the same problem I've had with certain fans of Deep Space Nine accusing Avery Brooks of hamming up his character. But if you have ever seen any interview with Avery Brooks you would know that his character is far less manic than the actor who is portraying him. So yeah, every series has viewers who only see what they want to see.

I saw Avery at a con once, the guy's a loon! Sisko is way calmer than the guy who plays him! And I never really thought of Sisko as hammed up, I guess he did inject a bit more life into him after he got the beard and shaved his head, but I liked that!

Yea. Sure, next to Picard, Sisko was a wild Party Boy, but, he was pretty well Federation prim and proper, through and through. I'd certainly never use the phrase "Hamming it up" in regards to Sisko.

well they brought back Davison to work with Tennent, I could totally see McGann coming back to work with Smith.. or maybe a short stint like time crash with eccleston and smith..that would be interesting too..

Though in all fairness, I would love McGann to get more screen time.. currently he is the shortest lived doctor in terms of coverage, and yet he has such a rich untapped history being his doctor was smack dab in the middle of the time war.
