Why does Voq/Ash say 'Kahlesh' like Sean Connery?

When you've got a nation spanning multiple worlds, space stations and outposts scattered across tens of thousands of cubic lightyears...the diversity of dialect would - I expect - be greater still.

Not just Qo'noS, but Brestant, No'mat, Morska, Khitomer, and how many more...

I watched the film 'The Elephant Man' a few days ago. The one from 1980, with John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins. I was struck by how much the makeup for the Discovery Klingons resembles Joseph Merrick's condition....the elongation of the skull, the heavy forehead, the appearance of the skin, etc. And even when they speak they seem to struggle somewhat, as if it is an effort to force the words out, even with their own language.
