Why Does The Satellite In Trek V Scream?

In the first scene with the Klingon BoP in Trek V, we see them attacking a satellite. When they fire on it, the satellite makes a noise that sounds very much like a scream.

What the hell is the deal with this anyway? Is it actually screaming? Most likely it's supposed to be some other sound that just happens to resemble a scream.

Anyone have any sort of explanation here?

Screams and animal sounds are often mixed into violent sound effects to give them "personality". In this example they just overdid it.

I dont mind the "Satellite Scream" in TFF. Overall, it has a pretty good sound mix(TOS torpedo launch sound, aircraft-like shuttlecraft noise)

Overall good Sound FX. Sadly, piss-poor Special FX.
