Why do you like Voyager?

To address the OP's point, I don't see how Voyager was more popular either. DS9 had a much better cast that was much more thoroughly explored and well-used and made wonderful use of continuity while Voyager's cast was often underused or used poorly and often dropped the ball on chances to have some connectivity. But despite that? I like Voyager! I don't LOVE it, but I enjoy it. As for why:

The biggest reason I suppose would be characters. Tuvok, The Doctor, Tom, and Seven really made it worth it, and despite its flaws Voyager has what I consider to be some of the best episodes of the entire franchise. I also always liked the design of the Intrepid and the look of the interiors. When they did episodes that only Voyager could do, they usually knocked it right out of the park. I have my beefs, but only because I think it could've been that much better.

It has nothing to do with story or how well the characters were used. Voyager was more popular because Paramount put more money into promoting it. Paramount used Voyager to promote UPN, they then used Seven of Nine to further promote the show too. The Simpsons have even used Seven of Nine's image in 3 episode as well as having an entire episode devoted to how much Marge was a fan of the show. 3 main cast members of Voyager appeared in 3 major Trek films as their characters on Voyager, no DS9 characters ever did- unless you really wanna include Worf but the mass public sees him as TNG cast. Paramount never really got behind DS9 the way they did TNG or Voy. as far as promotion. I'm not 100% sure but I think there's even more merchendise available for Voy. than DS9 too.

Re: Okay, get ready to throw Tomatoes but I liked "Endgame".

I'd forgotten about the EMH. But "Flashback" totally 100% doesn't count. Tim Russ was not in STVI (although he did play a human on the Enterprise-B in STVII)

I think DS9 was a better show, but Voyager was better promoted. Which is not say Voyager was terrible and DS9 is perfect. I enjoyed them both, but I do maintain that DS9 is the superior show (even over TNG, my "first trek love" that I essentially grew up watching). I liked many of the characters - Janeway, the Doctor, Tuvok, etc. - while others fell flat or were underdeveloped - Neelix, Harry Kim, etc. I think there were also a lot plot holes and inconsistencies in Voyager. That being said, it was still an entertaining show.

This might well be true.

Even now, Voyager gets airplay as reuns, whereas I haven't seen DS9 reuns for a couple of years.

I once noticed that whenever I would paintings or merchandise images of the captains of trek or something, they would show just three captains; Kirk, Picard and Janeway..not all but I did see at least a few of them...

And when Voyager was about to air its final episode, the local news station began airing "countdown" segments, where they went behind the scenes and interviewed the cast.

Ironically, in one of them, Garrett admitted he didn't like the ending as much...

Ds9 didn't get the fanfare with it's finale, though they did give the show a two hour timeslot over the weekend, but that was it.

Why I liked Star trek Voyager by vas2009

Kathryn Janeway, the best captain the franchise has come up with. The show also holds up with its special effects and story lines. Also I find the characters were developed just enouph without boring me to death, seriously who really wants to watch Harry being a wuss bag. I also felt it was very funny. I find Voyager very entertaining and that is what sci-fi and tv is all about.
