Why Didn't Chewie Or Rey Clean The Falcon Windows?

The Falcon can be tracked. Maybe they spent some time getting rid of that old tracking device, instead of washing the windows.

Or maybe Chewie or Rey like the look.

I doubt they liked dirty windows. They need them clean to better see where they are going.

Why is that? Some people like it as a matter of pride and history in the ship's look.

Though, I personally stand by the opinion that their priorities simply were not about cleaning windows.

They didn't clean the windows for the same reason that I've almost never cleaned the inside of my car windows in all the time I've owned it.

But seriously, I really don't think they actually need the windows to "see where they are going" when navigating, just like how jetliners have everything run with computers, electronic indicators, and whatnot. The pilot absolutely does not go by what he sees out the windows. In fact, that can cause big problems.

So why have windows in the first place, then?

It's a throwback to when they were needed. It's also an engineering nightmare.

Technically there are no windows so the camera can film without a reflection. The windows are done in post.

Do people assume Chewie is one big mop? That's offensive. Just because he has fur doesn't mean he's scrubbing stuff with it. I am betting he's been likened to that, and that got him very opposed to cleaning anything. Rey also didn't seem a big fan of scrubbing things in the Jakku sequence, so who is supposed to clean them windows?

Rey's been cleaning junk for years on that planet. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't clean anything for at least two years just because she didn't have to.

He would be the optimal choice. Perhaps when Rey is being trained by Luke R2 will put his downtime to good use and give the Falcon interior a good scrubbing. Chewie can help and make sure all the systems are in tip top conditions.

I'd go with the second one, but replace Chewie with Abrams.

Or maybe the dirt blocks tracking devices. It could be special, signal negating dirt.

Farm fresh, as Mike Wolfe would say.

Clean ships are more of a Trek thing. Voyager came back from years of battles and abuse in the DQ looking as clean as the day it had left the showroom.

So the Falcon doesn't have a navigational computer?

as fast as Han was flying the Falcon I would say no. Han manually flew the Falcon through that field. A nav computer is for charting a destination. I doubt Han or even the computer could chart their way through a asteroid field at that speed while being chased.

No. They can't even see enough out of that window to navigate by sight. They are on one tiny corner of a big ship, and not directly in the very front. A huge field of view would be completely blocked on their left, as well as underneath.

It is telling that the most recent and cutting-edge jetliner cockpit designs dispense with windows completely, in favor of a big computer display.

Maybe it is etched into the window via lightspeed, and can't be cleaned off.

Precisely. If you think getting bug remains off your windshield after driving on the freeway is bad... I mean, they hit a rathtar going into hyperspace. That's gotta leave a mark!

It didn't look like han was using the computer to me. He may have had a display of other parts of the ship to look at to try and avoid the asteroids near the side of the ship but he was definitely using the windows.
