Why didn't Beyond do better at the Box Office?

They didn't kick him out, Kirk and Krall were both blown out when the hatch opened, only Spock was there to save Kirk. Or am I remembering this incorrectly? And Krall was a Maco, not Starfleet. The underbelly of Starfleet was definitely not even hinted at in the movie, only an angry ex-marine.

As an aside, whenever I watch the scene of Kirk in the room with the Abronath, I am asking myself, why is it not attacking him? When Krall is covered by the Abronath, it does not consume him as quickly as it did Ensign Syr. Again, why is it not consuming him as quickly?

Having a small budget and good reviews does not guarantee the film will see profits. I went to see Pete's Dragon. This is one of the better films this summer. It is being trounced in the box office with a film wherein food engages in orgies and a film that is seriously flawed and had a drop of over 65% in its box office from the first week.

I'm actually a bit concerned over the backpedaling Fuller and Company are already doing over some fan criticism of the Discovery ship.

My concern with DISCOVERY is that the production is really trying to pander to the hardcore fanbase — Prime Universe, hiring Nick Meyer, etc.

That's my concern as well. It also seems like, in just about every interview he's done, Fuller mentions "Gene's vision." (or some variation on the theme) at least once.

Well, we saw a lot of direct to video releases . CBS/Paramount might allow folks to build their own sets--and have fan-productions compete for a contract--and sell directly.

What backpedaling? Didn't they say that the design is not finished when they showed the teaser and that it may be changed? So where did Fuller backpedal?

I am guessing that they wanted to avoid too much polemic over this design since it didn't matter to them all that much.

I imagine it would imagine quite a bit to the people who have probably spent weeks working on it, under Fuller's supervision.

I guess that is what I have to hope. Or else it makes Fuller look like he doesn't have faith in his vision.

Or maybe like it's the case for most talented people, his vision is pliable.

It was the case for Mozart for example who didn't mind last minute changes to his creations.
