I never bought that. I mean the only reason that Idea even exists is because one space station and one starship we watched on tv every week used them, and one starship we used to watch every week until it moved to a movie used them and the series ones in the film. for all we no some ships and stations used them and some ships and station used the TNG ones based on which one they perfered or mission profile (i.e. The DS9 ones being better for more down and dirty types jobs certain ships and crew on stations would do.)
