Why did Spock wear a beard on the second season of Disovery?

Beards make my face itch. I can’t go a few days without shaving before my face itches like crazy.
I don’t have the patience for that 
It is a western film/tv trope to have a man who is going through a crisis also grow facial hair...
Pike did the same thing.
Looked good on him.
13-year-old? Like a peach fuzz mustache and a few hairs on the chin? No one wants that.
I've never grown a beard, but I've had sideburns since I was 19.
But anyway, I'm glad that facial hair in general has become more acceptable. I especially like some of the wilder ones. That's not just commitment, but commitment that pays off.

Also, I didn't for the longest time because the company I worked for didn't allow beards as part of the dress code. Since my beard didn't fully grow in until like 25 I was unconcerned since I didn't care.
Now, I enjoy my beard but it makes me look 10 years older.
Most 13-year-olds aren't that hirsute.

Same here. I'd probably pass for early 40's without mine... but why bother? With my personality, the women aren't going to be interested regardless.

Well, my wife encouraged mine. And thankfully due to an unfortunate skating accident in my younger years my mom tolerates it.
When I’m feeling down the last thing I want to be doing is shaving. I’m like why bother? Even in a good day shaving is boring.
Shaving is boring? I must be doing it all wrong.
