Why did SNW alter the Enterprise bridge?

SNW doesn't yet have its own forum so I thought I'd ask this here:

Is there any particular reason why SNW changed the bridge of the Enterprise? IIRC they removed the corridor that goes behind the consoles. Any particular reason why they did that?

I mean, they went to all that trouble to build a bridge that lasts, you'd think they'd want to keep it "as is". At first I hated that corridor but now I think it looks kind of cool...bit sad to learn that we won't see it in SNW. :(

And I'm almost afraid to ask this but, did they make any other changes to the bridge?

I haven't seen anything indicating this one way or the other. Was there an article somewhere about the sets that I missed?

Only seen a few seconds of a teaser, so not much information.
But to me, any move towards the original is a better thing. I hope they fix the outside of the ship as well.

I'm going to guess they thought the corridor worked better in theory than in practice. It was probably an issue of the corridor not being easy to shoot in. Also, when you have a corridor there, it can effect the blocking; depending upon how they want to set up shots.

They have a lot more chances to move around and really use that bridge in SNW than in DSC, so they probably took what they learned and made the changes they felt like they had to make.

The footage we got on Star Trek day showed differences. Specifically what was mentioned, the corridor that ran behind the consoles is gone.

The doors also have a slightly different design and the sides of the Captain's chair are thinner.

I hope they fix the outside of the ship as well.
It doesn't need to be fixed as it isn't broken.

But I believe Akiva Goldsman did say there would be some differences.

Just for future edification, there is an SNW thread in the Future of Trek forum section.

The turbolift doors are also closer to the Captain's chair than before, making the alcove feel a lot more like the TOS Bridge one.

The walkway behind the consoles being gone would also account for having the extra space to bring the turbolift doors closer, since the opening to the walkway would be eliminated.

His hair's also greyer. So something's transpired between the end of DSC Season 2 and the first season of his own series.

IIRC, SNW is filming in a different studio than Disco and the bridge set as built for Disco wouldn't have fit in the new studio as was, so they had to make some modifications accordingly.
