Why did Disney kill "Big Hero 6?"

Why did Disney kill "Big Hero 6?" I love the 2014 film, saw it at the theater if I remember right. A few years ago, my first exposure to Disney+ was a friend letting me log into his account, back when password sharing was a thing, and no one cared. I stumbled across the show, having no idea there was a sequel to the film in series form. Traditional animation, but who cares, it was a sequel! We got two full-length seasons of 22 and 24 episodes. The third season was structured differently, after the premiere, the remaining 9 episodes were a pair of segments, then cancelled. Thankfully, we did get an ending of sorts. The show was cancelled to make way for Baymax! which only ran for 6 episodes. This shifted away from Big Hero 6 and focused on making Baymax cute. It was kind of pointless. Imagine Data getting a spin-off movie where he just does a science project on a space station, and the major conflict is getting it down on time. Yeah... this little Baymax thing was that. Anyway, it would be nice to have more from the world of BH6.

Does anyone know if this lovely little animated franchise will continue? If nothing else comes from BH6, at least we got a film and a seres.

Ohhhh. I see. I feel Disney's been on a steady decline for a while now, so I'm not exActly surprised...
I was never a fan of Disney to begin with, not even as a kid. When I was a kid, I always thought of Disney as that studio that made silly animated films with lots of singing. I honestly couldn't care less whether a film is from Disney or not. I just want to see a good film or series. I never understood wanting to see something simply because it's a Walt Disney production. I remember being excited for the 2023 Peter Pan film (Peter Pan and Wendy), but the trailers looked so dark and boring, and everyone just comes off as a complete ass in the film. Stick with the 2003 film. :D

I'm also surprised they never made a sequel movie; it'd seem like a no-brainer. I wonder if Disney figured they were already maxed out on superheroes with Marvel and The Incredibles? Disney Animation only releases a movie every year or two, and I guess they've been busy with sequels to Moana and Frozen over the years, so maybe the main Disney bosses didn't insist on a movie follow-up. But yeah, it's odd.

I do not believe so, but Disney+ and other streamers lately have randomly pulled content without warning. It's like how P+ did more than cancel Prodigy, but straight up pulled it from streaming. Thankfully, Netflix came to the rescue. This is why I still collect movies/TV on disc.
I don't think Paramount+ pulled it until Netflix picked it up, and they only did it then because of Netflix.
And it's only been 2 year since Baymax! came out, so it seems a bit early to be calling the franchise dead. There are plenty of active franchises that have had bigger gaps than that between productions.

The show was cancelled in June 2023 and pulled from streaming.
Netflix picked up the show in October 2023.

According to Wikipedia, "In June 2023, Paramount+ canceled several original series and removed them from the streaming service in exchange for a "content impairment charge". This included Star Trek: Prodigy, and came as part of wider cost-cutting changes being made by many streaming services." (source)

Big Hero 6: The Series ended on 2-15-21. Baymax is cutesy nonsense. It's been gone for almost 4 years now. :(

There were 6 years between Zootopia & Zootopia+, 8 between Moana & Moana 2, and 6 between Frozen & Frozen 2.

But it's still one movie and two TV shows, and that's already more than Moana and Zootopia got.
Baymax! doesn't count, it's an insult. I get what you're saying though. Never saw Moana. Is it good? Loved Zootopia. Did they ever make a sequel, a short, any kind of follow up?

Moana is absolutely fantastic, and either this or last year they released Zootopia+, a series of shorts on Disney+.
I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
