Why aren't Bussard Collectors on the saucer hull

Read the TNG tech manual. I read that the Blue Light square at the rear of the 1701-D saucer were "warp field projectors" . They would be used to create a warp field around the saucer so the saucer can navigate safely in case of a separation at Warp velocity.

The saucer does a bit more than that - it is capable of independent warp flight at relatively high warp, for several hours at a time (according to "Encounter at Farpoint", and contrary to the claims in the TNG Tech Manual).

As for the Tech Manual calling those blue things "warp field projectors"... I don't think so. The Sternbach blueprints sort of suggest they might be arboretum windows, but the volume beneath them is curiously shown empty or blank. Perhaps Sternbach is under orders from Starfleet not to reveal the warp capabilities of the saucer? Certainly the blue squares would make for excellent "field windows" for a fairly conventional warp engine.

Plenty of other detail on the saucer has been given a name in the Tech Manual or the Blueprints, but not referred to as such in the actual shows or movies. So perhaps those big ovoids that flank the bridge aren't really cargo elevators / umbilical ports as claimed, but in "reality" are covers for the saucer ramscoops?

^^ Yeah, but in this forum we tend to give more leeway because a lot of the tech doesn't occur on screen.

Read through them again. I'll do the same. I rdcal myself that the " squares" where arboretum windows. Later on they were changed into being "Warp Field Projectors.."
