Why Are They Shouting On An Empty Bridge?

I've been watching some of the early TNG episodes that WGN has been airing. Anyone else think the characters are usually talking too loud? Why all the shouting?

I've noticed, too, that when the camera pulls back for a shot of the entire bridge, it's almost always empty except for the core command crew.

I agree. There always seemed to be someone other than Scotty at the Engineering panel and a yeoman with something to be signed on TOS. One would spot unnamed folks going about their duties here and there throughout the ship. TNG Enterprise seems vast and empty in comparison.

You mean they're shouting more than they did in early TOS? Hmm, never noticed that. Perhaps its early series jitters?

That was exactly the point they wanted to convey. That they didn't need as much equipment to control the ship...technology unchained. Turned out great!
