Why are the Pirates in the NL Central and not East??

Hell, if they went by NFL geography, the Rangers would be in the East...

Along with the Diamondbacks.

I never understood why the NL Central has six teams and the AL West has four. So every division has 5 teams except those two. I guess six divisions all having the same amount of teams (5) would make too much sense.

Being an old braves fan from California I got used to the Braves being in the west and it was fun having them come out more often to play.

With an uneven number of teams in each league, someone would have to have a day off every day, and that would drag the season out a lot longer and the scheduling would get very confusing. It wasn't done at random.

It also has to do with the separation of leagues, so interplay isn't a full year thing.

Ah yes scheduling would be a nightmare having 15 teams in both leagues. It makes sense now. I would be cool if MLB could expand to 32 teams but that is probably unlikely anytime soon.
