Because no one knows they exist until a plot demands them.
Uhura: So, Spock, do you have any brothers or sisters?
Spock:....I DON'T KNOW!

Logically, they should if they have two hundred year lifespans and are having sex at least once every seven years.Vulcans generally have dozens of children,
I mean, a part of their population left for another planet, and they have colony worlds, plus whatever their population due to wars before adopting Surak's doctrine.Where is the logic in depleting resources through over population?![]()
Except, Vulcans are still susceptible to bouts of emotion, especially in regards to mating. Not saying there would not be any measures to support population planning, and allocation of resources.Yeah part of over-population in the Star Trek era is mitigated by the possibility of colonization, but I still think a logical species like the Vulcans would have only as many children as they can raise well and as there are resources available.

I'm still hoping for At Home With the Sareks, featuring Sarek, Amanda, young Spock and Michael (played by their Discovery flashback actors) and teenage rebel Sybok. The first Star Trek sitcom, it writes itself.
Of course Vulcan pedigrees are likely to have a lot fewer generations per centuryo or millennium that human pedigrees, making tht feat a little less impressive.
.
Sarek has a custom climate dome over the family compound. The moment when Discovery even made freaking Vulcan cold and rainy![]()
Spoilers: If there was never any rain, the planet would be uninhabitable. The moment when Discovery even made freaking Vulcan cold and rainy![]()

It's bound to rain eventually. It even snows in the desert.
I saw it. I still am failing to grasp the problem. Mileage I suppose.See the post right above yours
A by-product of the show filming in Canada. Stargate had the same problem. SNW might avoid it, since IIRC they plan on using those Volume things to digitally create their planets, like on The Mandalorian.I'm just tired of Discovery's tendency to make pretty much every planet they show cold, wet and/or snowy.
