why another blu-ray of all Trek movies by 2016 will happen

Any there any special feature at all on these new collections? I was looking at them, and they don't say anything about special features.

If they're the exact same pressings as the previous Blu Ray discs -- and all releases so far have been directly derived from the old 2009 pressings -- then they'll contain all the same special features except for the Captain's Table/'Evolutions' bonus discs, which aren't being bundled with it this time.

Boom!
For International:

Paramount has revealed that it plans to re-issue all of the classic Star Trek films on Blu-ray in new 50th anniversary-themed Steelbook packaging on 7/18 (at least internationally – see this listing on Zavvi– and probably here in the States too). Do note, however, that these are the same discs you probably already own. There’s no new content – just new packaging.
But a new encode is assumed.
Now we just have to wait for them to announce A US release

LOLWTF, they're using the "Director's Edition" DVD logo for TMP:

That is a pretty big assumption.

You posted a quote that even says these are just reissues...

Literally no reason to buy them if you have the Blu-rays already.

Not only is there no new content, they're actually MISSING a lot of bonus features. Those commentaries... :barf:

Unfortunately, the group product shot we posted of all the Steelbooks (which we took from Zavvi) showed that the Star Trek: The Motion Picture Steelbook would feature The Director’s Edition. However, we immediately knew this to be an error, and indeed it was – the studio marketing artist who created that shot simply used the wrong cover art for the film. We now have the final cover artwork for that Steelbook and, as expected, it is indeed the theatrical cut released previously. You can see it above right there. My thanks to David Fein (who, as many of you know, produced The Director’s Edition) for sending the final and correct artwork over.
new artwork for TMP at the link

Has there been any more information on the supposed Star Trek: The Animated Series Blu-ray release? Been pretty quiet since The Digital Bits piece.

Is it a residual issue where Paramount can't release behind the scenes content material? I would love to see an in depth making of--behind the scenes doc of these movies.

Well whatever they release be careful. The last time I went in and bought a full box st of the 6 movies, (to be the first thing I saw on my new big screen of course) when I got home and opened it, it was missing the wrath of khan with instead a copy of search for spock in its place. Giving me two copies of the 3rd film. When I returned it, the girl actually asked if I was sure the movie hadn't been "switched". I explained to her that no trekkie in their right mind would ever replace wrath of khan, with the search for spock. Point bring, if you can, check it out before you bring it home and keep the receipt.

Protip: the young ladies at best buy aren't as impressed by knowledge of star trek as one would hope.

Like everything with Paramount, it likely comes down to money, and them not wanting to spend it.
This, basically. While Paramount owns all the rights to the pre-existing BD and DVD supplemental content that they've created, anything else new beyond that will cost them $$$.

They can release everything that's previously appeared, but in certain cases (for example, some of the 2009 Blu-Rays), they've chosen to withhold certain content for various reasons (such as much of the TMP Director's Edition content not being applicable to the theatrical cut).

Well Sept. 6 Star Trek 50th Anniversary TV and Movie Collection blu-ray of all the TOS movies but only STIITWOK is remastered.

a new feature-length documentary.
i'd like more details on that.
there is a picture of the packaging and design here:

no only new thing is TAS.
CBS and Paramount have teamed up to combine every TOS cast movie along with the three seasons of The Original Series, and as a special treat, this box set is the debut of The Animated Series on Blu-ray, plus exclusive swag all in one 30-disc collector’s set.
