why Adult Swim? WHY?!

but in it's defense, if the show had an ending and a plot, and continuity, it could have been grand, it was a great premise

So, you mean a completely different show then? Definitely possible, I'll grant you that.

The premise was essentially Neon Genesis Evangelion in space. It's a ho-hum premise either way. NGE was amazing because of its characters, theme, message, and cinematography... Certainly not because of its premise.

Although, did the OVA they made for Pilot Candidate give any sort of resolution? I never bothered seeing it.

 That's like grading on a curve though. The smarter people look dumber because of it.

Pilot Canidate was an awful piece of boring and homeostatic tripe. Watching it was like getting teeth pulled at the dentist, only it took longer and you get less return out of it. Luckily the creators had the good sense to give it a mercy killing.

No, is what I hear, but I'd only watch it for large sums of cash dollars though.

Just a reminder for tonight (September 27/September 28), no new Bleach, Code Geass, or Moribito--they'll resume next Saturday night/Sunday morning...hopefully.

Tonight's viewer choice night, and the chosen lineup will feature a pretty even mix of both comedy and anime repeats, including Cowboy BeBop and FLCL.

The runner-up for viewer choice actually had no anime in her lineup at all...

I didnt get what was going on with Pilot Candidate, mind you this was one of my first anime & for some reason they were being run out of order, I think ...or they were just running the same 8-10 episodes over & over again. I dont know, it was confusing, lol.

^there were only what? 10-12 eps? they WERE run in order, there WAS no ending. the Candidate for Goddess was a big, animated mess

Yeah, 12 episodes, I don't even know how it managed to get a TV deal let alone liscensed being an aborted and unfinished work. :wtf:

That's not a bad idea really. Strategically, if they wanted to move away from the action shows AS could go ahead and liscense comedy anime instead. FLCL was one of their highest rated shows after all.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like the two Ah! My Goddess TV series, the Ai Yori Aoshi series, Kanon (2006), Excel Saga, Shuffle! or Azumanga Daioh on there. (All were pretty funny and some even at points were quite dramatic.) The problem is whether or not people would watch it or not though. Considering the comedy anime are even more of niche product than the stuff they already air, I don't believe they feel it has a chance and won't show any.

But hey, shitty flash cartoons about Ass Detectives were an internet-exclusive niche, so don't doubt the niche-power of AS.

AS won't bother with comedy anime since they already have homebrew stuff that's cheaper to air.

^it's only cheaper because instead of paying for animation Vs. Paying for the rights to a show it's moot because they make all thier cartoons with crayons and ink pens
