Monopoly can get kind of boring, but it can also be a lot of fun. It really depends on who you're playing with.

One of these days I want to try a Monopoly drinking game. I feel like that could be awesome.

I've actually never played it with the rules about property auctions...for a long time I didn't even realize that -was- in the rules.

Similarly, I assumed there was always some sort of bonus involved for landing on Free Parking.

Monopoly has developed some unofficial rules over the years. Just depends on who you play with.

We always played that things like taxes and Chance cards where you have to pay go into Free Parking rather than the bank. So whoever lands on Free Parking gets that money.

That is, however, not in the official game rules.
