Who's made their own tech manual?

Thanks for the link. I like those! I think deviantART has some but I've not searched in a while. I think there might be enough info to remake/update Mandel's Officer's Manual with the current crew just using info from the first two films and from Enterprise. Could be my next project!

I've been thinking it would be cool to make some "lost pages" from the old fandom technical booklets, like the Federation Reference Series or Enterprise Officer's Manual. I made a very rough partial bridge deck plan of the new Enterprise in the starship size thread by rearranging the sets a little(HERE, and I've been thinking of making an AU version of the bridge deck plan from Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise or Lawrence Miller's version in his refit Enterprise bridge blueprints with it.

Very impressive, my friend! I went back and checked a couple threads we did on a similar subject.

So, let's talk for a moment about a new Trek manual. I'm a sucker for those old school diagrams and such. Should it look like that, or a more techno look? Keep the old fonts or something completely new? Color vs. black & white. You already provided a great outline, but let's get down to specifics!

King Daniel Into Darkness said:
I'd base it roughly on FASA's TNG Officer's Manual, which had a little bit of everything - ship schematics for vearious classres, specifications, deck plans, equipment diagrams. uniforms, character and planet profiles and a timeline.

Ship classes:
DY-100
Declaration-class (the Ringship Enterprise)
NX-class
Einstein-class (USS Kelvin, class name from Federation: The First 150 Years)
Armstrong-type
Mayflower-type
Newton-type
Constitution-class
Vengeance-class
Starbase One (detailed pics in Star Trek: The Art of the Movie. The central strucure is very cool close up)
Kelvin shuttle
Kelvin medical shuttle
Military transport shuttle
Personnel shuttle
Into Darkness shuttle

There is a Franz Joseph-style floorplan of the new Enterprise seen briefly in Into Darkness, when they're initially scanned by the Vengeance. I'd love to see it. If anyone's got a good pic of it, please post it!

Cutaways of the Kelvin-type exist in the form of ILM's CG models. We see a torn Kelvin-type saucer in the debris over Vulcan, and part of the interior of the engineering hull is shown in Star Trek: The Art of the Movie.

The timeline would go from the Roswell Incident to the Eugenics Wars through to First Contact through to Enterprise through the two new movies.

Deck plans of the bridge deck, engineering (which was recreated in CG for the Into Darkness "roly-poly" sequence), the warp core, medical bay, transporter room, shuttlebay and huge crew quarters section from the videogame.

Equipment including hand phasers, phaser rifles, communicators, photon torpedoes.

Uniforms including ENT, Kelvin, academy cadet, academy instructor, nuTOS, new dress uniforms etc.

Character profiles on the main characters, as well as Admiral Marcus, Harrison/Khan, Spock Prime and Science Officer 0718.

Hey, I can dream...

I'd stick to black and white, use the old fonts and line drawings over colour graphics. A real tribute to the old booklets, bluepints and manuals but with stuff from the new movies.

I'd add to that list the D-4 Bird of Prey, and maybe even that unused and totally nutty Klingon battlecruiser designed for Into Darkness, with a little note that it's suspected to be the result of the Klingons' study and reverse engineering of the Narada's technology.

I'll be going to a week-long conference soon but after that, I'd really like to attempt this. I've got all those old fonts, so it'd be fun. I think it'd really be fun going from Enterprise to the new films. One question: Obviously Menagerie didn't happen in this universe, but did The Cage?

I like to think not, because although I like there to be similarities and AU versions of prime-verse events (like we saw in Into Darkness), I don't want everything to be the same.

I'd be really interested in those fonts if you've got links to them, or even what they're called!

Oh, and add to the list of ships the one from the "Mudd incident" in ID. There are plans and set blueprints out there already (albeit unfortuately in low resolution, and I can't even find the link right now), but coolest of all, it could well be the same ship Harry Mudd was flying in "Mudd's Woman"!

I'd love to see someone update Mr. Scott's Guide in full color. Maybe for both the refit Enterprise and the Enterprise-A.

Also, if anyone is looking for full color screen shots here's a page you'll need.

http://movies.trekcore.com

Just click on the movie on the left and scroll down to "Images" under that category, there's "Screencaps" either in DVD or HD.

I was in an accident on my way home. Been laid up and still recovering. I still want to do this.
