I seem to recall a few months ago a user getting in trouble for posting information about a poster that turned out to be culled info from over time the other poster had made here.


Between all the threads on "how big is" or "what is your favorite" and other sometimes deeply private threads, users here are making whoever keeps files a hell of a lot easier on them.

On my board we had an old member who actually did keep files on all of us (what we shared on the board), and really crossed the line by actually researching one of the female members educational and/or military records IIRC, which got him banned for creeping everyone the hell out.

Since then I'm a lot more careful about sharing pictures and info about myself and my family. So I'll share some vague info, but generally avoid anything that gets too into specifics. But I'm sure if someone was dedicated and creepy enough they could still compile a detailed list.

I'm guilty of leaking to much info about myself online. Didn't used to be that way, I was paranoid as shit back in the day. But when I started making friends online, I loosened up. It's came back to bite me in the ass, I admit.

I hear you. That's why I've always been purposefully vague on the net. I've never posted a picture of myself, nor have I ever used the proper names of anyone in my family, stuff like that.
