Who's A Mummy's Boy? (SPOILER If True)

Cast of thousands...in an RTD show? Who'd have thunk it!

Rumour has it they're still auditioning kitchen sinks...

Well one assumes he had a mother...I mean it's not like he got woven on some kind of loom is it...that'd be silly

What ludicrous crap...the "mother of Doctor Who"? Right.

Leaving aside the truth of the particular story, it's been made pretty clear since the series came back the contrary to some of the rubbish the novel writers came up in the years the series was off the air, he has or rather had a regular biological family.

Uncle Rusty has mentioned (and set reports from the second Special would indicate he's not pulling our legs for once) that the Doctor will be seeing things that aren't necessarily there in his last episodes, so while the story is probably false, one can't rule out the possiblilty that he might have a vision of his dear, old Mum before he goes.

Apparently there are a lot of dream and nightmare sequences, so just because he dreams this woman is his mother (whether she's human or Time Lord) doesn't mean she is.

If he even does.

I suspect that if there's a truthful element to this, she's going to be playing "Verity" - Dr John Smith's mother - because there seems to be a lot of connections to the Journal Of Impossible Things and Human Nature...

Actually that particular rubbish was made up by one of the 80s scriptwriters, who then put it in his book, which the licencee (Virgin) then had to include in their guidelines, forcing the rest of us to at least not refute it, regardless of what we thought of it...

I wasn't referring to the loom stuff, which I agree is silly in and of itself. I just hate the idea of seeing his mother, or ANY reference to his past pre-Hartnell era. The more they dissect his past, the more the mystery evaporates, and the more pedestrian The Doctor becomes...

I'm sorry Lonemagpie, are you an author? I had no idea. What books are yours?

where did that theory come from?

more to the point yes this sounds crazy, maybe there is some twisted truth to it, but in a very twisted way.

Dr Who wise: White Darkness, First Frontier, Sanctuary, Lords Of The Storm, Shadow Of Weng Chiang, The Dark Path, Face Of The Enemy, Mission Impractical, Wages Of Sin, Autumn Mist, Bullet Time, and The Eleventh Tiger. Also stories in Short Trips, More Short Trips, Decalog 2 and A Life Of Surprises, and the audios Excelis Rising and Unregenerate.

Trek wise: Delta Quadrant, On The Spot and Reservoir Ferengi.

Other stuff too...

And let me just say as someone unrelated to David (though I have met him a couple of times) that his books are damn great reads. My own favorites are First Frontier, Sanctuary, The Dark Path, Face Of The Enemy, Mission Impractical, and Bullet Time. Haven't read any of his Trek work, I'm afraid....

He likes it when you bow before him. ;)

And this could be interesting, if true.

And scrape - mustn't forget the scraping along with the bowing

I think it's going to be true... from a certain point of view. I'd put money on the idea that if we ever see someone meant to be "the Doctor's mother" it'll be Verity, and therefore John Smith's (not necessarily real!) mother

I didn't think who I am is news - not to anyone who frequents the TrekLit forum anyway.

Glad you liked the book! Always a pleasure to please an audience.

I have to admit, I haven't read any of your other works. But, since I know you're a regular customer here, I'll be certain to check some more of your Who novels out... :techman:
