Who would honor the culture, the lifelong fans, those who have laid the foundation we stand on today?

Agreed.Someone new.
That would be something significant.Bring back Robert Butler.
I was really curious what Quentin Tarantino would have done with Trek. His story (Old Kirk Prime, Kelvin Kirk and Picard in intertwining Pulp Fiction-ish stories) sounds kinda awesome to me, if those rumours were true.
Not necessarily. Tarantino has been saying for years Yesterday's Enterprise should be adapted into a movie, and when he was working on his movie he did say it would be a remake of an episode, which many assumed meant he was going to do Yesterday's Enterprise. But there's no indication that he was doing that for the movie or what he was planning for the movie at all.I seem to recall that his plot was apparently inspired by Yesterday's Enterprise.
I'd have Bob direct the next Star Trek movie. No, not Bob Orci. Just Bob. You all know Bob. Okay, but who would I really have?
This might be an Unpopular Opinion but... I'd have the Wachowskis direct a Star Trek movie. If they could mix the style of The Matrix with the style of Jupiter Ascending and apply it Star Trek, I think you could get something pretty interesting.
M. Night Shyamalan.
