I have eaten sea worms. Which were still moving when served. And yes we talked about gagh while eating them  The dish looked remarkably like gagh too. Though lets not forget there are umpteen kinds of gagh.

(Also eaten the silkworm pupae)

:wtf:

Remind me to pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich when I come by for dinner.

:p

Hanging out with Paris would be like hanging out with Abed from Community.

He's totally obsessed with 20th century pop culture, he hangs out with a BFF who does whatever he wants to do, in his dreamatorium, where he always plays the lead and the BFF always plays the sidekick. His father doesn't understand him, and he was an outcast until he met a stable group of friends, who he hung out with for several years in a place that nobody really wanted to be.

Sounds a lot like someone with whom I am intimately familiar.

I've had those in Northern Spain and they were very tasty. Weird looking, but not bad.

The worms or the pupae?

If it's the worms what did they look like? Do you remember what they were called?.

I never watched Comnunity, so I had to look it up. I guess Tom could be a bit like Abed, except that Tom doesn't have Aspergers syndrome.

I've eaten mealworms (technically they're baby beetles, not worms) though the person who served them to me didn't tell me until after I ate them.

Mealworms are a big Science Unit for first grade in. The States, and when I taught first graders, as part of the Mealworm study, we gave out recipes for mealworms granola, cookies, brownies and chocolate covered Mealworms. Never again, but it was an experience!

And it was a teacher who served them to me too. Definitely an experience!

I'd rather eat Janeway's pot roast.

You'd rather eat burnt to a cinder pot roast instead of peanut butter and jelly?

I think I'd hang out with Harry Kim. He seems easiest to talk to along with his buddy Tom Paris. He also needs to be understood more than others and giving friendship would help this.
I would also hang-out with Capt Janeway but, chances are, she wouldn't have the time.
Harry Kim and his 'rubber band soul' became famous by the fifth season. He dies and miraculously continues with the living in Emanations, Deadlock and Non-sequitor.
I believe I would be a little more empathetic than other crew-members to help him avoid the confusion that resulted because of the events around him.

Tom Paris. He was cool and he'd show me all the cool old movies I haven't seen, from 2015 on.

Also Janeway. I would've tried to hook up with her lol.

I'd have gone with the whole "rogue-ish stranger from the past with the rough edges" schtick. Like that hologram she dated.

For some reason I am deadly afraid of almost all sorts of insect larvae, maggots, grubs... I like spiders, I like snakes, I'll calmly sit there as bees crawl over my arm, but show me just one of those pale, squirming things and I tense up. Even worse are those caterpillars that move in clusters. I actually run screaming when I run across them in the forest.
I have no idea why I'm so afraid of them, I know they can't hurt me.

So eating any wormy thing would be a definitive no for me.

I'm actually the same way. Spiders? Fine. Maggots? I'm going to lose my shit. I think I'd spend days vomiting if I ever accidentally touched one.

Don´t get me started, especially with leeches. I give them a wide berth. :ack:

Oh yeah, well that one especially, I don't blame you. Leeches are pretty freaking sickening. My least favorite insects are probably fleas, mainly because I have cats who've brought them in before despite being on monthly flea medicine. The fleas love my blood. I'm sure leeches would be the same. Ugh. Insects and animals flock to me. :<

I once had a cat that brought a fat "tick" home. I didn´t know the English word, I had to look it up. Removing it was difficult.

Regarding the Voyager crew: I´d like to have a cup of coffee or two with Janeway. This we have in common. B´Elanna might be helpful with explaining technical terms. Math was never my strong suit. Harry plays the clarinet, I appreciate that people keep on playing instruments in the 24th century. Harry playing "Swing" composition, accompanied by Seven at the piano.... Poor Harry would be excited. :)

When I started doing my teacher's degree I had not yet decided on my second major and played with the idea of doing biology in addition to English.
That idea died when in one class the lecturer made me hold mealworm larvae in my hand and told me that the following semester we'd have to do an insect collection.

I am fine with all bugs.

I sometimes I have trouble with organ meats but I'm sure if it came up with any regularity I'd get over it. I am cool with gizzards, it's just intestines and kidneys that sometimes make me doubtful. And I won't do brains. That's about the only thing I've actually said no to.

You may have my kidneys, Jadzia, they are fresh like the ones of a newborn. I shall release the grasshoppers back into the wild to feed my scaly friends.
