Who was the best friend of Kes?

I made a thread some time ago about the best romantic pairing for Kes. Kes, I would like to qask you a similar question, but about Kes' best firend, orher best platonic pairing.

I have listed only charatcers that regularly interact with Kes (as I noticed). So, who was the best friend of Kes?

I voted The Doctor as her best friend. Janeway would be a close second, but she seemed more of a maternal figure.

The Doctor was her friend, Neelix was her lover.

The Doctor or Tuvok seemed to be her closet friend after Neelix. For the record, she did seem to have at least a casual friendship with Sam Wildman as well.

I'd like to make a case for Tieran (that warlord that possessed her)- a very nasty figure but he did liberate her from Neelix!

(just joking of course, but I do think it's interesting she broke her relation off under his influence and didn't come back to Neelix after that ep. Was it something she was contemplating doing already but didn't she dare do it in order to not hurt Neelix' feelings or some such thing?)

Don't know, they really weren't much alike imho. Perhaps the only overlapping trait was that Neelix could be kind of ... possessive.

I never said she would be accurate in such an assessment. Or perhaps she saw him through other eyes. Or perhaps she needed to process her experience and Neelix wasn't to blame in any way.

Huh, this makes me wish we'd seen more B'Elanna and Kes together. Are there any scenes of them together in the first three seasons?

There's a scene in sickbay in Learning Curve, scene at the end of Persistence of Vision (one of my favorites) and the dinner in Real Life. And briefly in Before and After. That's from the top of my head.

The relationship, if you can call it that, between Neelix and Kes never worked for me. I'm only sorry we didn't get to see Kes dump him on screen!
