I have no doubt that it isn't complicated as it's being made out. I also think that it will come in due time and don't see the need to push on it.
T'Bonz has probably felt the same way. I can see her saying that, actually. So this is probably closer to the truth than anything else.

I think "Children of Mars" will be the first ever new installment of Star Trek to have its discussion thread in Future Of Trek.
A newbie won't know if they should be posting in TNG, FOT, or GTD to talk about it. And, to be honest, I wouldn't blame them if they were confused. If it's already out, then technically it won't be the "Future" of Trek. It'll be the Present.

I think there's a simpler explanation. In order to keep it safe from bashers, TrekBBS had to send Star Trek: Picard into "The Future"... of Trek.
Not that it'll stop THIS crowd ("Why can't Picard be more like TNG?"
)
I'm going to apply everything I learned from my experience with Discovery to Picard. I'll do here what I did over there, when the season starts, and I'll turn it into a Drinking Game.
