Who should play Spock and Captain Pike in S2?

Quinto wouldn't make much sense, since STD has a different Sarek and Amanda.

Personally, I'm a big fan of The Cage cast and I'm hoping none of these characters appear on this show. They'll be ruined on it.
That cast had too many Terrans, it needs recasting

Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike:

YES! YES! SO MUCH YES!

I was thinking but Michael Caine, but I see it.
Good resemblance. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with him, though.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Todd Haberkorn were cast as Spock? Alec Peters would be pretty upset…

There IS some form of precedent, with Fiona Vroom (Lolani) playing an Orion in Beyond.

For Number One, there is some actress that strongly resembles Majel, but I can't, for the life of me, remember her name or what she's from.

For Yeoman Colt, Violett Beane, Alyson Stoner, or Bonnie Wright:

It isn't.

Ambassador isn't a Starfleet rank, and neither ship is currently on a diplomatic assignment. Sarek has zero authority.
Ambassador is a Federation rank, Starfleet serves the Federation. An ambassador, I'm pretty sure outranks a Captain.

Jack Black and Will Ferrell. That is about as seriously as I'm treating Discovery at this point.

Well, for protocol purposes—receiving lines and posh functions—sure, Sarek outranks a Captain.

It's a diplomatic position in the government and not part of the military.
I was of much the same mind, but then I remembered Ambassador Fox:
FOX: I have my orders, Captain, and now you have yours. You will proceed on course. Achieve orbit status and just leave the rest to me. You're well aware that my mission gives me the power of command. I now exercise it. You will proceed on course. That's a direct order.
And High Commissioner Ferris:
FERRIS: So are the plague victims on New Paris. I'm sorry, Captain. I now assume authority granted me under Title fifteen, Galactic Emergency Procedures, and I order you to abandon search.
So, when Federation law allows and the plot dictates, diplomats—being antagonistic dynamic secondary characters intended to create conflict—can order Starfleet officers around.

It isn't a rank, t's just a job title. And Sarek only has authority on a ship if that ship is on a designated diplomatic mission, which Discovery isn't. It's job is to pick up its new Captain which has been sidetracked by this distress call from the Enterprise. Sarek's just along for the ride, which means he has no authority at all.

after inhumans, i have a hard time imagining any anson mount performance that doesn't include this face for every emotion:

.

I dunno -- Pike was never a cheerful type. I think the above photo channels Hunter's character pretty well. I can almost hear him saying something about wrapping his hands around some Talosian's neck.

I did that photoshop job. I used the Kelvin bridge concept art for the background.
That uniform is sweet.

I seem to recall that was one of the reasons Nimoy played Spock the way that he did. Hunter's Pike was extremely serious, duty driven, individual who took the responsibility of command above and beyond almost any captain seen after him.

That was Kirk's character too at first. Spock in the second pilot and even some of the first episodes is a bit more impish.
