Who should/would you like to see direct ST3?

aside from Edgar Wright (who it will more than likely be)heres some possible names (not impossible like Nolan, Tarantino, Jackson, Meyer, Frakes etc) that could be open to doing it (i.e. they no appear to be attached to any big upcoming movies unlike BSinger, BBird, MReeves, DJones, RJohnson etc)

Ken Branagh (would certainly work well for the whole Shakespearean villian thing the star trek films always centre around. plus has directed both Kirks for Paramount)

Jon Faverau (seems to be in movie jail after CowboysAliens, currently directing animated Jungle Book for next year though)

Rupert Wyatt (heavily rumoured before Orci)

Joseph Kosinski (Tron was cool, last film starred Tom Cruise so maybe next could be Trek like JJ)

Doug Liman (EOT got seriously good reviews)

Attack the Block guy (studio seemed very keen on him but EWright would probably be a better bet)

Wild Cards (maybe not so likely as too big a deal like Nolan etc) - Neil Blomkamp, Darren Aronofsky, Alfonso Cuarón, Matthew Vaughn, Joss Whedon (don't think he's doing Avengers 3/4)

I voted Rupert Wyatt, I absolutely loved Rise of The Planet of the Apes more than anything else the others have been linked to.

If Paramount wants to push Trek over the $500 million dollar hump, they may need to attach someone like Bay to the project.

If Bay directs, maybe we can finally get a long slow motion Alice Eve underwear shot, while a starship explodes in the background.
The 1 second JJ scene last time was lame.

I don't think there are many directors who could actually do that. Transformers is only successful because it has a strong brand that has worldwide appeal. Star Trek doesn't have that, no matter how many explosions they'd toss in.

Just the same, Abrams' The Force Awakens, will likely make 2 billion, proving that it's really about the brand.

Transformers had no such brand that was strong enough to justify or explain the kind of money those movies have made worldwide. Bay has done it all for them.

Give Trek to Bay; why not?

Cecille B. DeMille, and if he's still dead, dig up John Ford.

Oliver Stone: He can rewrite history in two hours. JJ haters would eat it up.

Ang Lee: Hulking Klingon, Brokeback Romulan?

Kevin Costner: It might not be a good movie, but it would be a long freaking movie. And he'd cast himself in a lead role.

Kevin Smith: Jay and Silent Bob go to Starfleet Academy.

Mike Judge: Star Trek Idiocracy

Because I'd like a good movie.

People constantly complaining that JJTrek is mindless action with no character or substantive plot would actually be getting that with Bay.

While most of his movies make a ton of money I'd prefer someone who isn't as obsessed with action pieces. Most of Bay's movies are action porn where the scenes kind of exist to link action shots together.

That's cool if it's your thing and I have enjoyed a few Bay movies in the past but Trek actually does have a history of giving a crap about story first and despite what the haters say ST09 and STID had plenty of story to go around.

People have been saying the same thing about the Abrams films for five years now. Might as well give them what they are complaining about.
