Who Should Do the Novelization?

Christopher Bennett (aka Christopher) or Keith DeCandido (aka KRAD) would be my preferences, although Martin & Mangels write some excellent TREK as well. As do several others.

Four excellent choices, right there. Any of them would be a wonderful choice.

The author of the novelization has already been chosen, and in fact was chosen quite some time ago, since it was originally a December release. I would've loved to have done it, but it ain't me. :)

And yeah, I novelized all three Resident Evil films....

Has the name been released? If not, why is it being kept as a secret? Seems a bit odd. I mean we already know the name of the screenwriter right? What would be different about knowing the name of the individual who is adapting that screenplay into a novel format?

^ The number of possible reasons is huge -- two possibilities are that they don't want to announce it until the final manuscript is approved or they're waiting for a big convention (New York Comic-Con, Shore Leave) to make the announcement.

Too bad that it is not you. I would have enjoyed your unique take on it.

Another possibility could be that they want to protect the poor guy or gal from the overzealous fans bugging him or her about the plot of the movie as long as possible. ;) :D

Honestly, I can't see that happening - not TREK fans

Peter David? Ted or Christopher? Any of them would do a great job. Or should JJ and company just do the novelization themselves? What's the concensus?

My picks would be :

Vonda N McIntyre
Alan Dean Stanton
Margaret Wander Bonano (still alive)
Peter David (does epic well)
or....

William Shatner - as some of his novels are extrememly well written yet accessible.

Another who is sorry you're not doing it, Keith. Can you tell us if it is someone that has written Trek before, or a new name?

Just like the movie itself they wanted the novelization to be done by a well known author who has never written a Star Trek book before. They asked me but I turned them down. I don't know who got the job.

This is categorically not true.

I know everybody the editor talked to. Who are you, precisely?
