Who set for 6:45 on Saturday

Jelly Babies started their lives as Peace Babies to celebrate the end of WWI. Production stopped again at the time of WWII to resume again in 1953 (when sugar stopped being rationed, I think) . Just a bit more info on the famous Jelly Baby. :)

^^ Please advise this American as to the nature of Jelly Babies.
I assume you are aware of why someone might eat Jelly Babies when watching Doctor Who?

The Master also offered his wife a jelly baby in The Sound of the Drums.
Yes, but I almost equated them with Jelly Beans; however, I knew better than to make an assumption, hence my reason for asking. Unlike most Americans, I have been to different parts of the globe and sampled local treats. We truly get shorted in that department.
you guys get Peeps, I love Peeps.

Oh, and here's a pic if you want to see what they look like.
Jelly Babies look so creepy that you really have to wonder why they haven't been turned into some kind of annoyingly meta-referential Doctor Who monster by now.

the sweet he eats in the first one looks more like a licquorice allsort...

:guffaw:

and have to love the internet, where else would find all the jelly baby scenes in one place.

And where else would a discussion go from "There's a new episode on" to explaining what Jelly Babies are and what flavours they come in.

should I apologise for taking the thread off topic? I figure we will start a discussion thread as normal for Planet of the Dead, so I wasnt too worried about discussing my prep work for the forthcoming episode.

I watched The Next Doctor the other week, not that it really matters its not like Planet of the Dead is Part 2.

Ick. No Peeps for me, thank you!

I like to squash their tummies. Then bite off their heads. The pound shop sells a big bag for, er, £1. I like 'em better than Bassett's.
