An impressive run for Janeway currently leading the pack. I narrowly like Picard over the rest. I'm bald, I've been fascinated with archaeology since I was a kid, I'm a musician, a Libra (the most dimplomatic of the signs), and I dig a cup of Earl with a bit of soy milk and honey. Make it so.

I can see the inflation. All of the sudden a boatload of cadets are coming on and voting Janeway. Definatley being skewered by artificial registrations.

So recruit some people to vote for your Captain. And tell them to stick around and post in discussion (which, btw, goes for all new Voyager fans who recently registered. Welcome to TrekBBS and I hope you enjoy posting here).
I don't think its recruiting as much as the same people registering under different names over and over.

If it's genuinely new registers, then of course they are valid.

And like Alidar said, Welcome.

Just ask the Mods to check the IP's. That will at least tell you what area people are coming from.

Bravo kent.
THAT is the way of a civilized argumentation. Bravo.

Thank you. I just said my bit for my beloved voyager. I would've done things differently, and if you go to the post under voyager, there are a couple of threads that state what i would have done. One is a general thread which asks if you had to change voyager what would it be, and the other was if you had to change the END of voyager. I have some pretty nifty ideas if you're interested.

And youre from austria? My grandfather and grandmother lived in Vienna before WW2, but obviously had to move to the U.S. I've always wanted to go how is it there?

There's no real need to accuse anyone of making duals for no reason. We should keep in mind this is just a harmless poll, after all.

Besides, do you think that, if we had a serious dual problem, we wouldn't deal with it?

Picard!! The best example of Roddenberry's man...what Roddenberry would have aspired to be. Capable of action, but at heart a mediator in an age of reason. Also, the best actor in the role without question.

Edit: Wow is Janeway really leading????????????

I would rank them this way, in order:

1. Picard
Kirk
Sisko
Archer
Janeway

Hi!
I didn't come around to look at those threads yet but I'll do!
And it is great to live in Austria. It's a very clean country full of Janeway fans! :guffaw:

The series finale didn't violate anything except the temporal prime directive, which I don't think existed in the 24th century. And it wouldn't of applied to our Janeway either because it wasn't her that did the violating. And of COURSE she cared for all those deaths, it affected her deeply enough to go through a tough depression.

In the situation of the finale, there is no valid reason for Janeway to go back in time, risking possible terrible side effects for all of mankind, and the alpha/beta quadrants, for 40 FREAKING PEOPLE! That's ridiculous.

Maybe some dialog explaining that the Federation was on the brink of destruction, or several worlds were destroyed by the borg... BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. We see a viable Federation in good shape in the future she is in. But because Seven died, she HAD to go back and change history.

LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME

And yeah, she really cared about her crew, NOT. I guess anyone that died in the first 6 seasons just didn't matter enough for her to save them.

The whole series was pawns doing their part in a story. The only characters with any real life, on a consistent basis, were Janeway, Doctor, and Seven.

To be fair, this was the last opportunity for them to go home before the much later date that had all those consequences. Therefore, it made sense to go back here.

Sure she could have gone back in time before they left and stopped them, but that's about it (and it wouldn't have necessarily stopped the Maquis from getting sucked in and it wouldn't have led them to rescue Seven).

Tough one. I ultimately chose Picard.

Sisko I like a lot, but more as a person than a captain. Sisko was a good captain, but he hit a point where his responsibility to Bajor and the Bajoran faith largely outweighed his loyalties to the Federation. My favorite captain is going to be somebody who stands by the Federation. Kirk is another good choice, but he's an sporadic and emotional captain-- in all probability a far better wartime captain than Jean-Luc Picard. Janeway is completely bipolar... I like her personally, but she's a subpar captain. Archer is a likable yet self-righteous idealist-- nice guy, not a very good captain.

Picard gets better in later years, but there are occations where he is so wrapped up in the "sancity" of the prime directive that he completely loses perspective (eg. Code of Honor; Homeward).

ONLY the consequences for the Voyager crew. ONLY. The larger consequences of ALL of the Federation and alpha/beta quadrant were at risk!

Awesome criteria

Yeah, I know. I was talking about this part, though:
