As for The Doctor, I can't take him seriously. He doesn't exists, he is just an program. For example, Data is also a set of algorithms, but he has very complex physical body, that can be destroyed, Data can die. The Doctor has no value from this point of view.

I watch it for the first time, and honestly it's pretty boring or sometimes stupid.
I like Janeway, she is very strong and lively person (and character), but others... There are no interesting characters with rich plotline, IMO.

I like Spock, Data and Odo. They were interesting, with internal conflicts, that make sense. I just want to find such character in Voyager. May be in later seasons?

Yeah please just stick with it.

The Doctor grows SO much it's crazy. He becomes one of the most beloved characters on the show.

As for what Teacake said...yeah Seasons 4~7 because of the introduction of Seven of Nine. Yeah... just wait.

And these people saying wait for season 4... you should listen to those people. The latter half of Voyager validates the first half.

Season 1-3 of Voyager are MUCH better than the three-character soap opera it became in the later seasons.

It was not even remotely a soap opera. I would have liked a little more soap personally.

The soapiest Trek gets is some DS9 and the T/T storyline in ENT, and really that's not a lot of soap.

Alright here are some spoilers...which may or not make any sense to you since you are in Season 2. I couldn't find a lot of the more deeper, emotional scenes. But still here are some fun ones. I think you'll grow to like these two characters when you get to Seasons 4~7.
