Spoilers Who is the mastermind in Season 3 of Picard?

The Overlord

Fleet Captain
Who is the mastermind in Season 3 of Picard? Vadic is taking orders from some mysterious floating head, who wants to deal a mortal blow to the Federation on Frontier Day and seems to have the ability to harm Vadic, so this person is powerful and has some sort of grudge against the Federation.

I kept thinking it was going to be Armus after we first saw him. I know a lot of people have been suggesting Future Guy from Enterprise, which would fit in terms of actions.

However, after watching the recent episode, and reading a lot of twitter posts from Trek producers, Inhave a new suspect. Over the past few days, there have been some complaints and accusations there that the showrunners don't talk to each other. A producer on Prodigy has rebutted this at least once with, "We do talk to each other, keep watching."

I think it's a Prodigy antagonist (The Diviner), or at least one of his people. They hate the Federation, and tried to disable Starfleet using a virus to turn ships against each other before.

Characters also keep mentioning Janeway, and the Enterprise E was heavily damaged toward the end of Prodigy when the virus started to spread.

It'd be lovely if Picard himself wa-- wait, they did that routine for "Nemesis"...

It's probably not the neon-80s prawn from "Conspiracy".

It's less probable that Maxwell Smart is behind this caper, sorry about that Chief...

The Pah-Wraiths are a possibility thanks to the glowing gold eyes and all...

Or Moriarty found a way out of his cube from "Ship in a Bottle" - would he really be back for one episode as a brief cameo for no reason? Don't rell me Barclay's little gizmo had a wireless means to connect to a larger computer system. Or was and disabled, until Moriarty and/or the verbal control interface he was talking at figured out how to get around that.

Apparently, ghosting a ghost is very serious business.
Who you gonna call? ;)

Ghostbusters appearing in the season finale confirmed

But seriously, i already thought, since the first appearing of the hand/head entity, that it could be Dukat, but after watching Vadic in the teaser for next episode, i'm almost sure it can't be anyone else.

Apparently The Face's identity was included in the closed captioning in an episode that Paramount had to go back in and patch over.

As was the Borg queens name apparently
