I'll see the highlights. Watching the whole thing would put me at risk for an aneurysm.

That man's bullshit quotient is off the scale. And unfortunately, the fact that he wouldn't shut up with his endless stream of nonsense probably scored him some points with people who like "strongmen."

Oh, there were definitely moments when you heard dumbasses in the audience going "YEAH!" when Trump laid out such skilled verbal ripostes like "she's bad," and "she makes bad decisions."
One of my favorite moments was at the very end, where in one breath Trump both stated that she was bad for the country, but that he would absolutely support her if she won the election. I doubt anyone with a functioning brain cell left in their body believed that one.

What I don't understand is the comments I see elsewhere online about how Clinton seemed too polished. Isn't a world leader supposed to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, well-prepared, and articulate?!

I suspect this is another example of gender-based double-standards. Clinton is either unprepared or too prepared, too rough or too polished, too silly or too grim. She will never be good enough in any way because she's missing the one thing that would make critics take her seriously.

Trump, meanwhile, is having people say he won the debate because hey, he didn't literally shit on the debate floor. He even praised himself for not bringing up Bill Clinton's infidelities.

The sad thing is that everyone has already made up their minds; the nut jobs will vote for Trump, regardless of what he says ( My mind is made up! Don't try to confuse me with facts!). Nothing either says or does now makes the slightest bit of difference. I couldn't watch much of the debate; it's too damn depressing.

Every election cycle, I wonder why and how there are still "undecideds" into September/October. Especially this year. I read an article this morning where a bunch of undecideds talked about the debate, and a few of them were still undecided.

I wonder if that's just because there are people who aren't politically inclined/aware, or just too busy to pay much attention, or a failure in the system to properly educate people.

Polished can be a slightly nicer-sounding term for platitudinous rather than indicating being knowledgeable or articulate.

It's possible, and shouldn't be too hard to fathom, that some people agree with one of the candidates on some issues but the other on other issues or believe that neither candidate is authentic. It's true, though, that this time there's a pretty big difference in the attitudes and visions of the major candidates.

In a normal election year yes. But when you're a voter who feels he had been lied to every election cycle by career politicians you can't help but not be ethused by another slick talking, smooth candidate.

We don't live in their shoes so we can only guess.

I don't think it has anything to do with education. Both of these candidates have high unfavorables so trusting what they say is hard for many. Believing that this will be THE candidate that finally will do what he or she says is most likely the issue.
