Who are your top 4 Star Trek captains (from among the list in the poll)?

EDIT: I updated the poll to allow top 4 to make this more interesting. Top 3 would obviously be a run away. Maybe a mod can update the title, so it is less confusing.

Christopher Pike (Anson Mount)
Saru
Montgomery Scott
Gabriel Lorca (before the idiotic reveal)

But from the list: Pike, Sisko, and Picard (just). I don't really like any of the others to go with a fourth vote - even Picard's pushing it.

Why is Pike “any incarnation” but Kirk separated by actor?

Because we haven't seen a lot of Pike as a captain yet (although it looks like that will change soon). Separating different incarnations of Pike probably wouldn't draw a lot of votes individually, but consolidating might draw more votes to make the selection more relevant (from a data perspective).
Yes. There was a Kelvinverse version of Pike and he should be on the list.

Also, Sulu should be on the list as well. He's always forgotten on these lists.
We haven't seen enough Sulu as a Captain to make him relevant enough for the poll.

Kirk, Sisko & Picard are obvious for me; but choosing another is difficult. I never really cared for the portray of Janeway or Archer as well as anything J.J. Trek and STD I have no knowledge of.
So I guess if hard pressed, the fourth would have to be Pike from The Cage, even though Jeffery Hunter had all the charisma of paint peeling.

Of course if you added Spock to the mix, the fourth would be a shoe-in.

When was Scotty ever shown to be the commanding officer (CO) of a vessel?

The COs we have seen for our hero ships are: Pike, Kirk, Decker, Spock; Sulu; Picard, Jellico; Sisko, Dax; Janeway; Archer; Lorca, Saru, Burnham; Rios; Freeman; and TBA.

Never (except multiple times commanding the Enterprise throughout TOS and TAS as second officer). But he was still a Star Trek Captain via rank following his promotion in Star Trek III.

Star Trek Captains from main cast:
TOS/TAS - Pike, Kirk, Spock, Scott, Sulu
TNG - Picard, Riker
DS9 - Sisko
Voyager - Janeway, Chakotay
Enterprise - Archer
Discovery - Burnham, Saru, Lorca, Pike, Booker, Georgiou
Short Treks - Craft, Mudd, Pike, Lucero, Kirk
Picard - Picard, Rios
LD - Freeman
Prodigy - Dal, Janeway

I'm only using Captains who are, were, or will be regular characters:

Kirk (TOS)
Picard
Pike
Saru

Sisko, Janeway, and Archer all had to make choices that I think work great for dramatic purposes but I personally find to be questionable, if I'm being objective.

Georgiou in the first two episodes of DSC would've been on this list, but her glaring flaw of promoting Burnham too fast was a fatal mistake. Lorca... he's a crooked bastard which, again, is good for drama but takes him off the list. So that leaves Saru for the #4 spot.

"Where's Burnham on your list being the big Discovery fan you are?!" All we've seen her do as Captain so far is say, "Let's fly!" I'm pretty sure I think she'll be great, and no doubt she'd be in my Top 4, but we haven't really seen her as an official Captain yet, so I can't include her in this list. I'm not counting anything before the promotion because stepping up to an occasion and doing the job on a regular basis are two different things.

I'm a classic Trek guy, at least until I can properly binge Trek on a 40" screen instead on watch single episodes on my phone (still no PS5 Paramount app? REALLY?!) And Archer's a bit... yeah.

So, the Original, Locutus of Borg, the Emissary, and the Chuck Norris of Star Trek.
