Whither NuTrek TV...?

NuTrek TV show

It occurs to me, that with Pine, Quinto & co. playing NuTOS on the big screen, that they will most likely not be demoted to television - which is a new precedent for the franchise, which has always gone from TV to the silver screen.

So, what would the next Star Trek TV series look like, in this big new timeline? Something from the TOS era? Or jump ahead to Picard's time, and seal up the new timeline but good, effectively wiping out the creative opportunities of the new timeline? (Read the Shoot Yourself in the Foot school of management).

If TOS-era, would it be connie-trekking, or something entirely different?

And what about MuNuTrek? (I just wanted to write that).

And - would it be referred to as NuTrek or is it something else, like ST' & ST" ? (Prime and Doubleprime)? Or ST: TOS vs ST" ?

What would you like to see?

I definitely want Trek to return to the weekly format but I don't want it in the new timeline/universe and I really don't want Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman involved. I'd actually prefer Bryan Fuller over them but I'm not too crazy about him either.

I'd actually like to see a series set in the late 24th or early 25th century although I fear that the Trek I liked is gone and isn't coming back.

The smartest move is to do the obvious: capitalize on the movie's success by setting the show in the "new" universe, in the 23rd C, with a Starfleet crew going boldly, but it shouldn't be the Enterprise. All new cast of characters with the movie folks there for the premiere ep and for special episodes. If at all possible, drag Nimoy back onto the small screen at least once. Not the most imaginative approach, but the refurbishing process for the brand is still new, and now is not the time to get "creative."

CBS may have the rights to profit from this show but they would certainly have the sense to know that they shouldn't air it. Trek and CBS are entirely wrong for each other because CBS has the wrong audience. To relegate it to cable would send the wrong message - Trek's brand is solidly mass-market entertainment now. They either have to make it work on a real network (I'd pick NBC or Fox - heck, even a modest success would be an answer to NBC's prayers) or not do it at all. They cannot risk a high-profile TV failure just as they've successfully reinvigorated the brand.
