White Meat or Dark Meat

The question of the day.

Many people are big fans of the white meat (breast) but, I dunno. I've always prefered the dark meat. (Legs/Thighs.)

White Meat or Dark Meat?

For the longest time, I stayed away from chicken thighs because I felt they were too greasy--and they can be, depending on how they're done--but recently, I've become something of a fan of them.

As far turkey, though, I'm sticking to white meat only (but then I've never been a fan of turkey to begin with).

And would it be so terribly wrong to admit that when I first read the thread title, the naughty thought of "what kind of sex partner" came to mind?
:alienblush:

It will be a crappy thanksgiving if I don't have a Leg. It's the most awesome part of the Turkey in my opinion. Then for leftovers you can have the white meat for Sandwiches. :)

Ah, the Holiday Season is truly here.

All my favourite hackneyed puns can emerge from hibernation:

"do you like white or dark meat?"
"are you a breast or leg man?"
"do you want stuffing, darling?"

I leave you to come up with more...

Turkey is turkey. Long as it's properly cooked I could really care less what part of the bird it comes from. It's all delish!

What I'm wondering is, is a yam the same thing as a sweet potato, and also is "stuffing" only supposed to be called that when it's inside the bird? I always used to think my grandmother was being old fashioned when she called it "dressing" (which I never use, BTW, I equate the word 'dressing' with salad).

Dark meat by itself or in leftover turkey sandwiches, white meat smothered in gravy and mashed potatoes.

I don't much care for turkey in a sandwich - that's another "bready" question (although not even slightly curranty). If I am going to eat leftover turkey, it will be heated and NOT in a sandwich. With spare gravy. I will stretch that Thanksgiving dinner for as long as it will take...

Different species entirely. Both taste good though, so I'm not quibbling. :D

I don't know. I still call it stuffing, but there probably is a more appropriate name for it if it's cooked separately.
