Which Trek show could have benefited most by having a monkey in it?

I think a TOS moneky would be fun because they would put fake looking horns or something on it and call it something else.

Enterprise. It would be the most interesting character on the show.

The Next Generation, clearly.

First, because of the spontaneity a monkey would have brought to the series - it would have played delightfully against Stewart's Picard.

Second, I'd love to have seen Worf assigned on an away mission to escort the monkey somewhere by shuttlecraft, particularly that tiny Hyundai shuttle.

Third, the reaction of TOS fans upon hearing in mid-1987 that the new series would feature both a teenage officer and a monkey mascot would have been...breathtaking.

If the klingons had a monkey or even seen a monkey theyd would have probably eatin it or at least killed it and screamed "KALIMAH!"

Re: Which Trek show could have benefited most by having a monkey in it

Didn't Lost in Space have a space pet early on? Was never a big fan, but I thought so. This is a great topic, as I find monkeys really funny. Elvis had a chimp, Scatter, whom we would send into his lackeys' rooms when they were involved with a woman there.Good ol' boy humor, I guess.

This is a toughie. Yeah, I'd go TNG. I've been watching reruns after not seeing it for 17 years. It's almost unwatchable, people are so bland or bad at acting. HOW did Ms. Sirtis get a role, seriously? Cringe-worthy.

But I digress. They need some verve on the Ent D, and a monkey is the recipe for success. And Berman should relax his bland music edict and let a composer write some "humorous" monkey music cues for whenever ... let's call him "Kirk" appears.

If Picard needed anything it was an aristocratic-looking gundog sitting beside his captain's chair.

Jayson!!! You been gone or something?

The answer to the question is, of course, ENT. The monkey should have been captain.

Re: Which Trek show could have benefited most by having a monkey in it

A monkey on TNG would have been awesome! When it wasn't driving Worf spare it could sit on top of Picard's chair and polish his dome. Also the monkey could have transfered to DS9 shortly after Worf, where it could continue to drive Worf spare and could polish Sisko's dome. :guffaw:

"Monkeys are the funniest people."

Voyager. A space monkey with funny looking hair, who could have cooked and kept the crew cheery and...

What?

They already...

Oh. Okay.

Yup, they had Debbie the Bloop.

Yeah, pet of Billy Mumy's sis: Angela Cartwright(sp?), who was in Sound of Music, directed by Robert Wise of TMP. So baically, there was a chimp on the Enterprise, in a way.

Personally, I'd prefer Twiki. My living room erupted in cheers when he had a cameo in the movie Paul.

The monkey could have the name Chimchim, it is the pet/companion of Travis Maywhether. When Captain Archer left the ship, he would always try to leave Travis and Chimchim behind.

So, when Archer (and his Vulcan science officer Trixie) went on missions, Travis and Chimchim would hide in the trunk of the shuttlepod.

In the end, Captain Archer (and Trixie) would usually find that they needed their help.

:)

You folks have convinced me that the show hasn't been filmed that could not be bettered by including a monkey.

...

No, not really . . .

Just think of the comments Data would have made about a monkey (or a chimpanzee) being closer to humanity than he.

KIRK: Helm not responding! And this is such a crisis that I haven't even the time to go and monkey with Sulu's controls! Ensign Cheetah, get over there and push every button while I attend to something else!
