Just curious. I'm going with Klingons. As much as I think the Vulcans could use some more development and they will probably get it, and as much as I love the Romulans too, I really do believe there should be some serious focus on the Klingon Empire. It would be another 'rope-'em-in' for the portion of the masses who are vaguely familiar with Trek and will recognize the idea but not much else.

I don't necessarily think Klingons should be the end-all and the be-all, but I think we need to see them. And... dare I say, I think they should have ridges.

Somehow.

Edited to add:

I totally forgot the Cardassians. I should have had a choice for 'none of the above, but ____ established race instead', too. Oh well...

Andorians and Klingons. Probably the most interessting species in the TOS area.
Maybe the Tholians.

The Klingons - but better, smarter Klingons than seen in TNG/DS9/ENT. The old novel "The Final Reflection" got it right.

Judging by Nero's interrogator, they'll do just fine. I loved the helmet/trenchcoat look, too.

I voted klingons. I would really like to see those masked klingons from the deleted scenes and I think it would be cool to see both ridged and non-ridged klingons. It would be nice to see a new side of them too, instead of the "honor, growling, and fighting" monoculture we got from TNG onwards. I wouldn't mind seeing Khan either, so klingons or Khan would make me happy.

The Dominion, woo woo! :rommie:

The aliens with the most interesting potential remain the Vulcans and Romulans, but it's unlikely the second movie will repeat that theme. Maybe they can return to that plot thread for #3. I'd prefer time-travelling Augments from the 21st C (they don't even have to have Khan in tow!) but I'm resigned to the inevitability of Klingon-Fu.

I like the idea of the Dominion, myself, but I also like the idea of keeping them contained to DS9. I think if they were to be introduced to the new timeline via film, they would really deserve at least a duology. The notion of besting even a front line and forcing a truce with those races in the course of two hours just doesn't sit well with me. Of course, there are infinite possible takes. I'm sure something could work out.

The Augments idea is nifty and would work well without Khan, but I think a lot of people would just complain that there's no point without him.

I like the idea of exploring space and bumping into a new race that haven't been seen before. Make it where that new race could go either bad or good for the XIII and maybe have them team up with one of the existing races in XIII. I'm honestly open to just about anything just as long as the movie is well done.

All good answers. (Not that I'm qualified to judge, but you know what I mean.)

The Indy 500, eh? I could almost see it happening. WITH MOAR LENS FLARES

I just thought of something: It'll never happen, but I'd love a follow-up on those aliens Archer pirated and pretty much left for dead in the Delphic Expanse. What if, because of that attack 100 years ago, those aliens have chosen to join the Klingon Empire instead of the Federation? And their planet is the only source of Importantium in the galaxy!

That's hilarious, but if in some cosmic fluke it were filmed, Enterprise fans would feel like it was a major sleight to them as individuals.

"Archer screwed up. Kirk, fix this!"

...I don't care though, that would be hilarious.

The Vulcan effort to rebuild should be included. Perhaps, after help from Earth, they will soften their racist attitudes.

I'd like possibly a mixture, or no focus on a specific race, like the first movie.

The first movie was effectively all about the Romulans and the Vulcans. I liked that mixture a lot, though. Obviously those two races make perfect sense together.

Maybe a mixture of Klingons and Gorn or something would be cool for this second film. I'd love to see a Ferengi or two in the background, too.

Ooh, here's a thought. The 'big damn epic opening' happens, and like with the first movie it doesn't pertain the Kirk and Company, and then when we get a chance to catch our breath, the Enterprise is reintroduced to us and it's chasing some Ferengi kingpin across the region. And from there we're brought into an epic conflict between Klingons and Gorn and Whatever Else, oh my.
