It was never a name change, it was snobbery. Some people believed they possessed better social skills / better fashion sense / better personal hygiene practices, and attempted to set themselves apart from the Trekkies. I agree, I am both, but I lean more toward Trekkie. I am primarily into Trek for the fun of it, (replying to this thread) but I sometimes get caught up in the minutia, over analyse something.
