Production is already paid for, so any revenues are gravy. The cost of goods for the DVD and packaging is small, so why not kick it out there? You can't help but make money. Production is still being funded by a broadcast financial model.and we've already seen a few TV series get their North American distribution exclusively on DVD, such as the second season of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
