When Trip died I was enraged. Same goes with Kirk and Data. Furious.

When Jadzia died I was thankful. Then my thankfulness became rage when they brought her back.

When Tasha died, I was a little shocked. Joyfully shocked.

Spock is the right answer. The scene is so well done.
That last shot, with Kirk just slumped against the wall. Gut-wrenching.

Spock's death was certainly the most sad, the more likely to bring a tear to your eye because of how well it was written and acted (and yes, that includes Shatner too, you Shatner-haters--:p).

Now, if you want to say which death was the most sad because it was a lousy idea:
Kirk
Trip
Data

I was going to say Trip becasuse I was sad the writing had gotten so bad. Guess I am not the first. :p

I voted Spock, but I need to clarify.

Within the ST universe, Spock's death was a tragedy. I wept unabashedly when I first saw STII and still well up every time I watch it. His death was heroic, well-written, well-acted and artistically satisfying. Not to mention heartbreaking.

But in the real world, Kirk's death made me sadder because I knew he wasn't coming back. It was truly the end of the TOS generation of adventures on film or television. Books, of course, are another matter, but the end of the Shatner-era saddened me in a way that TWOK did not.

I respect this quite a bit. Kirk's death represented an end to an era of my childhood. However, I was most saddened by Data's death simply because TNG films could have continued if someone had actually cared enough to make them good. Data's death was useless and contrived and signaled an end to Star Trek for me.

I voted for Kirk. That was the first on screen Star Trek death I saw and he had always been my favorite character. Plus, I was young enough to not know that the death was coming. It packed quite a wallop.

Tasha Yar. Just really unexpected.

I hated Jadzia leaving the show. That was very sad, too.

Spock was too noble to feel anything but pride in his sacrafice. Besides, he's not dead.

Trip's death was bullshit and very calculated. I agree with that.

Data was reborn in the form of his odd little step-brother. Bah!

Kirk, noble again. No problem.

Hmmmm, if we could just devise a canonical way to bring Trip and Data back.

I write off Trip's death since it was holodeck death. So, it's canon that hologram Trip died during a holodeck program run by Riker, but ultimately, Trip's actual fate remains unknown to canon since we never actually see it onscreen.

I would definitely have to say Data's death was the most heart wrenching. Seeing as TNG is my favorite series and there has been so much character development with him on the show, which definitely makes one feel closer to him, how can anyone possibly hate or not care about his death...for goodness sakes, he saved Jean-Luc's life, and no one can possibly convince me that B4 is a good replacement.

Spock's Death was the best by far. Perfectly written and acted. I don't know how it could be improved. I never agreed that he was cheaply brought back either, as TSFS had a fine narrative, and Spock's resurrection cost Kirk the Enterprise and David.

Never understood why people got that upset over Kirk's death. It wasn't perfect, but I thought it was well done. if anything, I think the nexus scene with Kirk and Picard could be improved. I mean, we see kirk in some random house, talking about some random Antonia woman.....that could have been a great scene.

Well,I feel like a complete idiot, but I had never thought of that before. You're absolutely right, it was a holodeck program run by Riker. Who knows what happened "in reality" :rommie:

Hey, hey! Trip= not dead.

Exactly, it would have been much more satisfying to have him with David and Carol--since they could have been any age, different actors could have played them like with Picard's nephew.

This is a hard question that has 2 correct answers for me.

I voted Spock because that is the only scene in any movie that I tear up like a baby. It's so well acted, written, filmed, staged, everything in that death is so perfect, as is the funeral and speech by Kirk. I get the most emotional when this scene is played, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

But deep down inside Kirk's death makes me more sad because I know he's not coming back for seconds. But my emotions in that scene are not nearly as evident because of the awful way they handled that scene. I was more furious than anything else when I first saw it. It's blasphemous to treat the death of such a legend like that, and someone should have been fired for it.

Most definitely Spock. I think that is the death scene that set the standard for all Trek death scenes, and that's why every other main character death isn't as satisfying.
