  • Matrix I

    Votes: 13 22.0%
  • The Dark Knight

    Votes: 15 25.4%
  • XMEN 2

    Votes: 5 8.5%

  • Poll closed .
Okay...Avatar has been out long enough to add this to my semi-monthly (or when ever I get around to it again) thread.

If your boat was sinking, and you were going to be stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life, and you were able to save your DVD player, A nice TV and one DVD...what DVD would that be between the choices given...

Rob

What strange options...why those?

Or is the answer merely, "it's my thread, it's my choices." :)

Well, my 'movie' friends and I (five of us) each picked a movie and came up with five different answers. (I will not reveal my choice, so as to not tamper with the results). But we each put up 20$ and..well..which ever movie gets the most votes, that dude wins.....

Rob

Those are really bizarre choices. I guess it's a general science-fiction-action theme?

Matrix, I guess.

Each picked a movie that you think we on the board would pick? Or picked one you guys would want, then made a bet what one we would pick?

I resent being a lab rat.

Dont worry, we will not inject you with anything..I promise.

Well, we debated which movie people would want to see over the others if they could only select one of them. The debate was furious, nearly coming to fists. But being that we're all nerds, we just pointed at each other and yelled. (after taking off our glasses of course)

Rob

So, seriously...this has to do with what you and your friends think we on the board would pick?

I was only kidding about the resentment, I'm just trying to figure out what the deal is.

Ha, that's actually as good a reason to throw these five films together as any. Best of luck with the bet, Robert.

Bizarrely I picked Star Trek even though I think Dark Knight and the Matrix are better movies. Star Trek seems like it would be the easiest one to watch over and over.

I had no idea how the poll would go but it looks like I'm with the majority, TUC :)

It's an odd collection.

The third time Kirk was hanging by his fingertips, I was hoping he would fall. And Spock becoming Kirk's bosom buddy because he was told too was one of the most ridiculous stories ever told.

The happy way Neo and Trinity were killing people was rather offputting, and a little dull, and it was way too obvious that the movie made no sense without a clue as to what the Oracle was about.

X-Men 2 was really dull by the end. Wolverine knifing a woman wasn't exciting but repulsive. Jean Grey killing herself came out of the blue.

Dark Knight was barely watchable. By the end, it was hard not to laugh out loud at how ridiculous it had gotten.

Avatar is the only outstanding movie on the list.

Well, in that scenario, I choose X2, because it kicks ass and it has four super-hot babes in prominent roles, versus up to one each for the others.

As for which is the best film, it's a toss-up between Matrix and Dark Knight... but why I'd want either of those to be my sole reminders of the outside world is beyond me. Trek XI isn't as good as either of 'em, but since it's got a much lighter tone I'd rather take it over both of them combined. Oh, snap, yes, I did say that.

I mean, a desert island... those are always pretty heavy scenarios. ;)

So the real question for guys is which movie's women to you want to beat off to until you croak.

DARK KNIGHT- great movie, but looking at Maggie Gyllenhaal for decades? Not enough of the Russian ballerinas in the film to offset that.

X-Men 2- More variety there. As long as you have a mute button for when Halle speaks.

Matrix- Mostly Carrie Anne there...so-so.

Avatar- Blue skinned cat-monkey chick, Shelly Roderiguez, and aged Sigourney...I dunno.

Star Trek- Saldana in the flesh, Orion chick...hmmm....

Chose Trek because I've only seen it a few times and it seems like it is one of those flicks that you will see something new, each time you watch. I hated The Matrix, the Dark Knight was good but I couldn't watch it over and over. Avatar was so so and I'm not really into the X Men all that much; although it was a very cool movie.
