Which is Healthier?

Baking or grilling, and why.

PR put another way why is the calorie count higher for baked chicken compared to grilled?

I'd imagine grilling would be seeing how baked food tend to sit in the juice/fat that oozes out.

Yeah, grilling certainly helps get rid of excess fat on your meat, but honestly, I don't think the difference is all that significant.

The fat isn't the only thing that gets grilled out - I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure there can be vitamins, fiber and minerals in the juice that you lose when you grill.

Further as the food cooks in the higher grilling heats much of the nutrtional elements can be cooked out and there's even "some" evidence that eating well-done beef can cause cancer.

I'd argue that baking is "healthier" but I'm not sure the method of cooking has any effect on how healthy food is. Even, contrary to popular belief, frying foods isn't inherently unhealthy.

Some people think that when you cook that food in all of that fat the food becomes "fatty", truth is if it is properly fried the food will take on none of the grease its cooked in making an increase in the fat to be whatever tiny amount of fat remains on the food when it's taken out of the cooking oil, and of courses added by any breading.

Lightly grilling foods, however, I could see as being "healthier" but, again, I really don't think how you cook food is going to have any impact on how healthy it is.

All you have to do is bake your meat sitting on a baking rack and all the excess fat will drip off of it.
