I was gonna post this in General Discussion when I realized I'd never seen a poll in this forum before, so enjoy.

Which era of Federation technology do you prefer? It can be due to the visual look/feel, practicality, etc., whatever.

Personally, I love the 23rd Century movie era. It was a good mix between the sterile 24th Century and the manual button/lever TOS era. Everything just felt so... believable, yet advanced in an imaginative way.

"Com-pic on the hyperchannel!"

It's got to be the TOS movies really. Not quite at the 24th century level of uber-polished sophistication, but a step up from the somewhat plan TOS style.

Movie era. Closer to TMP the better.

I am fond of elements of the TOS era, but the movies are what pulled me into Trekdom.

Anything between Cochrane's warp flight and the end of Kirk's 5-year mission. Space was space in those days, especially the earlier times. I'd love to see a hard sci-fi Romulan War feature.

I'm going to have to be different and say the Voyager/Late DS9/TNG Movie era. I'm not a fan of magic technobabble, but I felt the tech at least looked great. It was a sleeked up version of all the great tech that debuted with TNG. The LCARS panels got the colors to be a good compromise between colorful and bland, and were more dynamic. Phasers, tricorders, and padds looked the most practical and ergonomic of any of the 24th century variations. Holograms could be overused, but the concept is great, and the Voyager hologrids look much more like they contain emitters than the grid of TNG. Ships got sleek. The best comm badge debuted. The silvers, blues, and grays of ship interiors looked better than the Enterprise D's beige. And Voyager's warp core is just plain cool looking.

While very 80s, I liked the blue-on-black monitors of the 23rd Century movies.

Although, by the time of Generations, the E-B basically had 24th Century tech with blue LCARS and blue isolinear chips.

Voting for 24th century myself just because it has Replicators, Holodecks and LCARS plus the later era ships are cooler.

I liked the TNG stuff. I suppose it's the most "recent", so therefore, has the greatest appeal to me. I find it hard to be excited about a technology when I've already seen the more advanced stuff.

Before someone mentions the 29th Century stuff, no, I don't like it. Too far removed from MY Trek.
