Which Episode to Start off with to get into the Show?

Not easy to pick 5 all depends on what type of stories the other person like but I'm leaning towards starting with season 3 episodes, also trying to pick episodes which don't really require knowing too much about previous events

"Booby Trap" starts with Geordi being awkward with women and then creating his computerized love interest out of a real person's personal file... I don't know. that's kinda weird... I'd say it's an acquired taste.

I think these 5 episodes give a pretty good flavor of TNG. Obviously, most of these are some of the better episodes, but they are all solid scripts.

I am not crazy about "Captain's Holiday"...

I would try to find 5 episodes that are fairly base-line and stand alone stories. Baseline in the sense that they are our usual crew as the focus, not a lot of awesome guest stars. Episodes that are set on the Enterprise rather than in a weird other place. Nothing that leans on seeing an earlier episode. I don't have time to cook up an actual list from these, but those are the rules I'd set for myself.

Yesterday's Enterprise is nice because it shows what is compared to what might have been... Plus it's very well acted and filmed...
