the big question is: with all the talk about vanilla cakes, when will we finally get one?

Never been a fan of the 1701-E design. And the F that I saw wasnt very appetizing either. Nevertheless there is no way it does not make an appearance. The taking of Federation citizen Hugh captive, his likely harsh interrogation and a possible uprising of the drones against the Romulans, the Cube breaking free and pursued by Romulan ships sounds like exactly the sort of incident that the Enterprise and other ships would be sent to the Romulan border to deal with.
I would forget the Eaves aesthetic and start back with the TMP Refit Enterprise. That's the gold standard for me. And begin upgrading that ship for the 25th Cent. New ENT-E type nacelles, thicken the neck, scale the whole thing to 800m or so, and already you are off to a better start than anything we have seen recently.

Just because STO showed the Enterprise-F as a ship of the Odyssey-Class (with a bad design imo), doesn't mean that it will look like that in canon

I also hope that if we see any flashbacks to Riker’s time on the Titan, that it will be a new design also and not that stupid thing from Pocket Books. The novelverse and STO are their own separate continuities; there’s no reason to use anything from them in PIC.
Probably the Enterprise-E if it appears at all. Would would also be good if they can reference the NX-01 Enterprise as well at some point.

I've always been partial to Jiballian fudge cake with L'maki nut icing, myself...
