There are a handful of dvds I don't have yet, including two more that come out on Tuesday. Which of these should I get? And why?

Please pick no more than two. After being off work for a few months due to surgery, I still haven't had a full paycheck yet.

Well, I voted for four, cos Time Monster, Underworld and Horns of Nimon are conveniently all in one release (the Myths And Legends set) which would therefore actually be one vote, and The Mutants would be my other pick, just cos at six episodes it'd be the best value for money

I recently watched Silver Nemesis and was quite surprised by the quality of it. Not a terribly original story, but lots of action, neat locations, and good performances by McCoy and Aldred. It also seemed slightly less dated than the other McCoy era tales.

I also voted for The TV Movie cause it's just one worth owning. The only (on-screen) outing for the 8th Doctor, and it contains possibly the coolest tardis interior ever.

^ The same. For pretty much the same reasons.

Plus, the Seventh Doctor wears a fez in "Silver Nemesis" and fezes are cool.

I voted The Horns of Nimon and Creature from the Pit just because you don't get any sillier than that. Haven't seen The Mutants or The Time Monster, and the TV movie didn't really do it for me.

You know, for a few seconds there I actually wondered what the significance of the numbers in brackets was...:brickwall:

Been nice knowing you, I'm turning in my sonic screwdriver and exiling myself to the Enterprise forum...

I went with the movie

Another vote for the movie because if you've never seen it, it's worth checking out. Yeah, they dropped the ball on a few things, but it's still the only place to see Paul McGann on screen as the Doctor, it's always great to see Sylvester McCoy, and it's fascinating to see how an American-produced DW series might have looked like. Plus I honestly don't think it was that bad - if you read The Nth Doctor and the descriptions of some of the really wild reimaginings that were planned at one point, the TV movie comes off smelling like a rose by comparison.

As for the others listed, to be honest none of them really turn me on that much. I went with The Time Monster on the basis that I enjoyed the novelisation and because it's a Third Doctor story.

I'm a huge fan of The Mutants but I know a lot of people aren't keen on it. I'm also partial to The Creature in the Pit because the "twist" plays against type.

To be honest these are not the best stories. I would suggest waiting until March or so for The Seeds Of Doom....

I'm getting all of the Doctor Who stories on dvd. The ones on this list are the only ones that have been released (in the US) that I don't have so far. So whatever ends up in the top spot will be the first one of these that I get, but I'll get the others eventually. At the latest, before the Day by Day cycle starts over. (with the stories that haven't been done already)

I agree. As I'm not a completest überfan, I'm only buying the most well-regarded stories as voted for by the real fans. I don't completely agree with the ranking of the top stories, but I certainly agree with their assessment of the "meh" episodes and the absolute lemons. Of the surviving, compete episodes I'm only really missing Terror of the Autons/Zygons now.

I was at Fry's today and picked up a Davison era Who ep....they had "The Movie" on the shelf and even though it was dated for the 8th, I tried to purchase it anyway. No luck!!! :( they said it wasn't supposed to be on the shelf yet.

While not the best Who, it'll be good to have a clear version of it, as my VHS taped version is crap.

The Paul McGann movie because it's the only Paul McGann you can see. Plus, savor the effort that it must have taken for 2entertain to untangle the rights issues with FOX & Universal.
