Considering we live in an era of rewatching and binge watching, they should be paying more attention than ever. Instead they treat it the same way they did in the 60's, when Trek was expected to be watched once and never again. It's very strange.
I expect most viewers still watch it once and little more and without great concern for the details that obsess fans and shippers and the like who frequent message boards.

since there is no 'none' option, I went with Janice. She should be in her early teens right now, maybe we can get some high school drama going...

but honestly, what's with the obsession with seeing the TOS crew early? We get the fanwank this season hopefully so DSC has it out of the system and from season 3 onwards can tell great stories without having to kotow to the "where are my TOS people" horde

I

speaking of shippers, there isn’t anyone to ship in this show. :(
fanfiction disagrees on that one, besides the obvious, Culmets, there are Detmer/Owo ships, Burnham/Spock for whatever reason, Burnham/Lorca, Burnham/Pippa and a couple of others, I have not encountered yet

Richard Daystrom. Who else does Star Fleet have around who would be able to fix Airam?

I'm going to guess Ariam isn't a Federation citizen. They'd have to take her to her world. I wouldn't leave Ariam in the hands of someone who can't do any better than the M5. Ariam would turn into a Killer Cyborg.

He never had a canon birthdate, just some odd reference that didn’t make any sense.

Also have you considered they may have made Georgiou younger, and not Pike older?

She’s only a retcon, not a violation.

She isn't even a retcon. There's nothing about her or anything she has done so far that retcons anything.

At some point in time they'll reinvent the original crew for a TV series. It will happen, because it's a money maker. Whether we like it or not when it happens is a different matter. I don't know if I'd keep watching it, but I'd most certainly watch the series pilot. As with all Star Trek TV shows, it all depends on how they manage the characters.

At some point in the future, maybe, but I don't know if it will be done under this regime. I stand by the idea that they won't do a TV series with the TOS Crew unless Paramount decides to stop making movies. Star Trek 4 was shelved, but that doesn't mean they won't try to re-reboot the films with a lower-budget incarnation in the 2020s. I'd be more surprised if they didn't do this.

I voted for Rand, since we actually know next to nothing about her. It would cool to give her some sort of backstory after all these years. And there's no way they could get it "wrong" since her past is pretty much a blank slate.

I also like the idea of seeing a young Dr. Daystrom, back in his prime.
