Which classic TOS character should Discovery introduced next

Mendez. Without a doubt. The others can absolutely wait.

 

Rand was most likely about the same age as Spock. I would love to see her be given some credit as a more rounded, more competent character in an episode or two. She was new to the Enterprise in the Corbomite Manoeuvre so she could have been up to anything beforehand. They don't have enough enlisted characters in Trek.

Miranda Jones was an intriguing character though and I would love to see her get some development.

Matt Decker might be fun. Elizabeth Dehner, Carol Marcus, Commodores Mendez or Stone. I'm sure there are more...

 

How come no one has mentioned the Horta yet? Seriously, that would be outrageously cool.

With Starbase 11 mentioned this week, they really should work Mendez in somehow.

I wonder how old Mendez was supposed to be? Throne was only three years older than Shatner, but I'm sure Mendez had more years than that on Kirk.

 

I think Mendez, Decker, and Wesley were ahead of Kirk at the Academy by a few years, but they seemed like friends. Even though they were senior to Kirk, they were on a first-name basis. I doubt that they were supposed to be as old as McCoy, but this was the 60s, after all: Throne’s hairline and the salt-and-peppered Decker and Wesley all connoted advanced age.

 

I think an appearance by Scott or McCoy in the Discovery time setting is a possibility
If they were going to introduce Kirk, he would have to be a "positively grim" cadet, or Ensign (Is that the same ?)
I'd like to see a mention of my old favourite, the gaseous cloud

 

Not TOS, but I would like to see John De Lancie appear as an older Q as part of an anti-time older-in-the-past space-time phenomenon.

 

A cadet is someone attending school. An Ensign is a commissioned officer.

Looking at IMDb, I think Rob Brownstein might make a good Mendez.
