Yes. Yes it is.The Abramsverse is just a bad place, period.

Yeah, but i never cared for the Federation being a utopia. No, it's not. I am happy about the new Trek being less preachy.
I don't see that old Trek was like that unless Picard or Janeway was busy ranting and raving. And Picard got better after the first season of TNG.
The second movie was more deep and philosophical. The Abramsverse is just a bad place, period.
No, it's not. I am happy about the new Trek being less preachy.
And I'm unhappy about it being just plain retarded & oriented for the whiz-bang set.
I still want to see Peter Dinklage as a starship captain.
No, it doesn't "have to be" at all. In fact, that idea may just about be the perfect recipe for disaster! Particularly if you're suggesting some kind of updated yet stylistic continuation of TNG/DS9 laced with fan pandering guest appearances and call backs from those shows etc.It has to be the Prime Universe, set 10-15 years after DS9.
Personally, I believe something fresh, excitng - and yes - action orientated (shock horror) in the JJverse is the future. It doesn't necessarily have to be on the Enterprise, but it should certainly retain the aesthetic of 09 and STID. Please, let's not go back to WELL covered and cultivated ground (no matter how good) and kill the franchise on TV before it even gets (re)started.
As for actors, I have to agree going with an relative unknown is best.

No. If they have to stick with NuTrek then I hope they do something original, I don't want a thirty-something Picard and teenage senior staff (not to mention the super-intelligent baby-Wesley).maybe they could do both - i.e set it in the JJverse but in the late 24th Century and the JJ style Enterprise D with an all new crew (with guest roles for Admiral Picard, Riker, Data etc in various eps like the TOS actors in TNG)
call it Star Trek TNG (just the abbreviation)
Yup and my Uhura a classy lady.Yes. Yes it is.The Abramsverse is just a bad place, period.
I also prefer my Vulcans unexploded.
